Bloody buggery stones...

Just had a great big whack from a stone at motorway speeds, hit the roof with a right old bang. Just checked it and there's a nice 1 inch scrape right down to the primer along the centre of the roof... god damn bloody buggery sod it. That's a £60 spot repair on the cards. That plus half a dozen stone chips on the nose and I'll be drinking water for a month! :x I wish I truly hated this car and I'd save so much stress and money. Oh, looks like I've either bent a wheel or have something wrong with a rear tyre too, as I've got a wobble at 25mph, arg, oh yeah and I might have snapped a spring as there's a mighty scrape sound on the up motion of a speed hump. Oh for gods sake will it never end! Sodding Manchester potholes...

You sound like me! :D Really sorry to hear all of this. Great start to the year? :?

Hope you get it all sorted soon.

i hear you. one of the reasons why i am refraining from buying something nice at the moment. potholes everywhere, parking charges, speed cameras, inconsiderate drivers, congestion, fuel prices and the fact that something completely random like that will happen and leave your pride and joy with cosmetic damage through no fault of your own.

at the moment i can leave my astra coupe anywhere and not really care if anything happens to it. that wouldnt be the case if i had something nice/ expensive.

Well I tried that before... had a lovely e85, got rid because I was always worried about it. Bought a mondeo and loved not worrying, but hated not having anything to be passionate about. Bought the e89 and while I know its a PITA, I equally know if I got rid, I'd be back to a euro box with no interest in it at all.

Maniac you big drama queen....drinking water indeed!! Whatever it takes to keep your car looking good mate, just do it! You can't run a car like yours without having to spend out on it.

I spend £200 a month cleaning my car, products, paying guys using my products etc, my bonnet polished once in a while etc....

I would love to get my stone chips done on the front of the car

BTW sorry about your wheel mate....let me know what goes on.....

Haha Nick you straight talker you. You're probably right in that you have to spend to keep em tip top... but I don't have to like spending do I.. :)

I'm having both tyres done on the back first, if that fixes the wobble I'll put it down to a duff tyre. If not, well I guess I'll find out when the wheels come off.. if its a bend I'll be on to the council. Once the tyres are done I can get that noise from the back looked at, sounds like the tip of a spring gone to me, boinging and scraping on a bounce back.

Or perhaps I should get an astra coupe and pay off my mortgage quicker :poke:

Don't do it!

Sorry to hear about the wheel. Was just on news yesterday the amount of payouts that councils are making for pothole damage. Keep at them, especially as you have photos etc

Wow :o

That is an expression of love. At £200 a month I could have my car re-sprayed in 3 or 4 months at a local paint-shop I know. Good job !

Yeah I know but it makes me happy having a very very clean car. I don't smoke or drink and like having my car looking shiny and new all the time.....I clean it 3 times a week!

-Wow have you any paint left? :poke:

Am sure there is no evidence of too much cleaning, washing etc can take off any part of the clear coat!!! With a machine maybe!!!

A quick trip to Sheldons Tyres this morning and while I've some minor flat spots on both rear wheels, there's nothing significantly wrong with them to explain the slight wobble I'm getting so its my guess (and theirs) its the tyres that are about to fail on the run flat inner rim. So, two new tyres on order, ouch. They said the flat spots were so slight that they'd expect to see them on 19"+ rims and RFTs and wouldn't be worth repairing as they're so minor. The chap said, we can certainly sort larger flat spots out when they arise, I said, I'm sure with these wheels I'll be able to accommodate you at some point! So here's hoping the tyres are to blame and I'm back to a nice smooth ride by the weekend.
