anyone watching Blackout on C4? stuff like this scares the hibijibis out of me ... but its ok ive closed the shutters and set the cats to guard mode.

Just finished watching it. Very grim and depressing, wish I hadn't bothered but I'm like a moth to the flame with that genre.

yeah you can kind of see it happening. at first i thought that it was predicable but then not really its probably how it will go.

yeah deffo tomscott. whats more scary is alot of it is made from actual footage.

Partial disruption to the National grid (with localised disconnections) is becoming a increasing issue due to the lack of flexibility of Power Generation.
The rush to build Wind Farms without a clear strategy (other than CO2 targets) is making this a credible situation.
Successive governments have failed to 'manage' the UK's power generation portfolio in a smart way since the 90's. Look out for this in the future :!:

if you fancy a bit bleak watch threads from 1984...

Yes it really strikes home when you actually live in Sheffield and they show a mushroom cloud rising from the end of Fargate ( the main shopping street) :o

Sadly this is the tip of the iceberg in terms of what could happen with a well orchestrated attack against infrastructure / SCADA systems.

Want to scare yourself - have a read about the Stuxnet virus.

On a serious note, though, I'll be OK if this happens in real life... I have a generator... and a compost loo thingy. Oh wait - perhaps I need to do is get to know the neighbours...?

If this happens in real life I'll be fine, my neighbours have a generator and a year's supply of tinned food... I've got a ski mask and a shotgun...
