Time for a new phone. I have narrowed it down to a either the Blackberry Curve 8330 or the Blackberry 8830. Any opionions out there? Also, does anyone know of any problems syncing either of these phones with a Z4. They are not on the official list of compatible phones, but from other postings it seems like others have had good success.

I've run the 8100 Pearl for 18 months and loved it. Changed to an iphone for 10 days but it had to go as there was no O2 reception at home.
Ended up with and 8310 'Curve' last week and I love it too.
In terms of compatibility with the ULF that depends upon which generation ULF you have. On the X5 I have a generation 12 (of the 13 available)and it syncs and works perfectly. I have also used and mated the Pearl to a generation 3 & 8, but on the three SMS was not available.
On my other thread you can see where taking advice I managed an extract of addresses using bluetooth functioanlity of the 8310. No idea of cradles but I don't use them.
My bluetooth kit has yet to go into the Z4, but doubt there will be any problems as it's all dependant upon the ULF you have.
Only issue I have is the inbuilt sat nav has problems that vodafone have yet to solve for me. I won't damn the phome for it, but it's annoying

If you give me the part number I have a list of them all and can identify it. I cannot tell just from manufacture date as there is considerble overlap in manufacture dates.
BMW may be able to tell you without looking at the ULF itself.
I am coming of the opinion that the only way to tell compatibility is to test pair the chosen phone to car as the BMW lists are incomplete, innacurate and miss the latest phones. ULF modules vary on functinality and some older ones support functions that newer lack and then reappear on the latest.

I agree with this. my previous 8100 Pearl and now 8310 curve are great all in devices, email being the strongest feature and where RIM really have the market. If I just wanted a phone there are better on the market without full qwerty keyboards, etc.

Thanks guys. I think the Curve is the way I am going to go. I am looking for PDA functions (e-mail and calendar) along with the phone. I have an Audiovox SMT5600 now. It has served me well for the past 3 yrs, but I really want a QWERTY keyboard this time around.
Hah! My employer has just switched us all off of Orange and onto Voda and given us all Blackberries (Blackberrys?) -- but! they're all ancient (7130?) and best of all, they're not enabling email and we can't even switch it on and pay for it ourselves!!
So we've all got shite old obsolete Blackberries and can to use them ONLY as regular phones.
