Black Sapphire Z4 UnderBonnet black paint colour

Hi,

I'm respraying the front panel on my Z4 Coupe. The under bonnet colour is like a satin black. The colour BMW have told me it is is F01 Schwartz. I've tested this colour and it is not the top coat colour of the under bonnet paint, it is the base coat colour for the underbonnet paint. I know this because it is the same colour as the paint underneath the sticker which covers the chassis number on the suspension turret.

I've spoken to people from BMW central who have asked the service department at the dealers to raise a technical enquiry with BMW Germany. I'm awaiting their response but in the meantime, I thought I'd post to see if anyone knows what colour this actually is ie the colour code for it etc.

The post confuses me. But then again it's 35c out here and I'm enjoying a few vino's :)

The underbonnet on most Zeds is sprayed a matt black and has nothing to do with the colour of the rest of the car. There's a separate thread on the forum showing that many owners have a matt black underbonnet colour on a variety of body colours.

You can get the pain tcolour of stickers on the car or from the Vin number.

May be worth going to a bodyshop and let them match it. Some have the scanner which matches anything pretty much.

OK - thne sorry - no idea of the colour or where to find it other than as stated a body shop to match it or BMW.
 
Are they new parts or something? Why do you need to respray the inners unless its had work done there too????
 
I'm painting oit to make it mint under the bonnet. The code F01 is not right, honestly. If you look under the chassis number sticker on the suspension turret, you should see its a different black to the colour of the turret itself (it is on mine anyway!!) F01 is the base colour for the black. I know this because I took their advice and got the front panel painted in F01. It now looks like the cars been in a bump or something because it is the wrong colour. I've been on to BMW and painstakingly explained it to them on the phone and they've now raised a technical enquiry with BMW Germany to find out.

It's doing my head in!! I think I'm gonna end up just getting it matched up but I'm annoyed because I'm paying for the work twice on the back of bad info from BMW. There MUST be a code for this paint, it's ridiculous.

Im hoping someone is gonna know what it is, or has had a similar experience and post on here for me!!
