Black Sapphire + stone chips deluxe!?

Hi.

My car is Sapphire black and it has 22 369 miles or 36 000 km on it.
The car is in pretty good condition overall except the hood? It has ALOT of stone chips, really really small though.

It has not been driven during winter. Am I the only one with a hood consisting of white spots?

I know I am really picky about these kind of things but gives me a pretty headache :/

Only solution will be to repaint the hood :(
 
I have some on mine. I will be touching them up and using a de-nibber then polishing.

I practiced on my DD company car first :lol:
 
I have these white spots on my bumper and a couple on the bonnet. Bought a Chipex kit which I hope will see me okay untilI can get it resprayed and protected. It does grate. :x

Got to expect it when the car is driven though and not a garage queen. :driving:
 
Yeah, my bright red paintwork has the front end gravel rash of which you speak. Seems to be an occupational hazard if you actually want to drive these cars.

Have you tried the kit?
 
I have the same gravel rash you talk about on my front bumper which is starting to turn white. with a fair few chips on the bonnet and front wings.

I'm not sure what to do as I feel If i have a front end respray its only going to happen again.

What sort of protection can you get to prevent this, I was wondering whether its possible to wrap the front end which may be more tougher than paint or at least a bit cheaper to replace if its gets damaged again in time?
 
I've got the exact same gravel rash on mine. As much as I wanted to get it sorted, I decided to just live with it, as it's only going to come back!

I have tried it and is okay. The colour match is very good. It is still there but at a glance it is not so noticeable. The very small white spots on the bottom of the bumper I haven't tried yet as I need a day where it isn't raining (not so easy at the moment) when I am not working or doing something with the family but I think it will cover these okay. The art is in using the blending solution and at the right time so you remove enough but not too much paint from the chip.
 
Forgor to mention that the car has just been polished and waxed. Can that make the chips more visible?

Cant remenber that I had so many white dots before the detail

Wax/polish will collect in the chips and make them look worse. I use this to help against that white effect: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/glazes/poorboys-black-hole/prod_494.html

but ultimately I'll get my bumper re-sprayed pretty soon.
 
This was part of the reason I had a blow over done on my Z, and altough it looks new now I'm sure it won't be long before theres a few new chips to deal with, must be the shape or that their a little lower to the road :|
 
Rash here too. Not going to bother protecting it all until it has a front end touch up. Once that's done (and that's a long, long way off!) I'd like to get it vinyl wrapped in that clear coat stuff you can get. Was looking at it in a car wrapping shop. It's thick and flexible so if a stone does hit it, the paint work should be fine and the vinyl will also go back to being smooth like it has a memory. It's all witchcraft & magic.
 
Update:

Washed the car today for the 2nd time since I bought it.
I have small small, really tiny stone chips all over the car. Doors, roof, fenders etc.

Do you have that to?

My first black car, and last :)
 
Hi Philly , unusual to have stone chips all over . I know it may sound silly but could they be tiny dots of paint

Hi :)

I should have been more specific. I have them on my door and front/rear arches and they are really small but I guess thats the downside of owning a black car :)
