Black or Silver (orig) Kidney Grills. Thoughts?

It's a personal taste kind of thing. I separated the grilles and sprayed the Chrome surrounds gloss black. Wasn't sure about what it would look like but I'm really pleased with the results and it only cost me £4. I also fitted a Black Zunsport lower grille.View attachment 1

I went for some ebay matte black grilles. The fit isn't the best, but they don't fall out. Decided on matte instead of gloss as I think it goes better with the other plastics on the car (lower aero grilles and wing mirror trims).

Opted for a combination of OEM inserts and non-OEM black surrounds. Currently in gloss black to match the lower diffuser. Personally I feel the OEM chrome surrounds do not match the front too well, as there is no other chrome there. On the other hand, I do like the OEM titanium inserts in (lighter) exterior colors such as silver. On a black exterior, I would probably have gone all black. :ninja:

I think it depends on the colour of the car and personal preference.

My last 3.0Si came with the silver slat/chrome surround ones that were standard on all the 3 litre models.

But I didn't like them much, so I bought a set of OE gloss black slat/chrome surrounds that other models had and much preferred them.

But my current car came with after-market all matt black kidneys and I think they work really well against the Silver Grey paint.

I had silver grilles with chrome rings. I went and sprayed both pieces with plasti-dip to make them matte black. My car is silver so I prefer this look.

Love that lower grill, is it easy to swap that kind of thing yourself?

It took me 10 minutes. You don't take the original grill out as the new Wire Mesh grille fixes over the existing one. If you are thinking of purchasing one Zunsport give a 20% discount to forum members the code is. BM282018. With the discount it cost me £71.14 inc postage. The Black one was slightly more expensive. My existing grille had a crack in it due to the previous owner hitting a badger or something. Taking the old grille out would've meant removing the bumper. which in turn would require new bumper brackets as they more often than not break. Much easier solution and looks cool.
