Black or shadow chrome wheels? Pic request

From the pictures - shadow chrome first. Then OEM, then black :)

Definitely. Black is so common these days too a lot of new car come with it. Shadow chrome on the otherhand!

But I still think oem looks gorgeous! Dark colours look better on darker cars.

Black need to be glossy, as Adamski said before. I stand by my opinion though. Stick some black grilles on too :D

You should stand by your opinion, seeing as it's the correct one! :D

And I second the black grilles, you can get a set for £40 from ebay.

Slightly hypocritical with advice here but my Mini has black gloss wheels. Looks much nicer than matt.

+1 non the black grilles. Mine came with them in matt so I took them off and sprayed them gloss! Subtle but significant difference.

Our winters are on shadow, they look dirty when they are clean.

I thought it might stop me wasting my time cleaning wheels.
But it wasn't that good an idea. Dirty all the time is worse.

hype, thankyou very much for the photoshopped pics. That helps a lot.

I think I'm leaning towards the shadow chrome but i'm still quite undecided!

That's the opposite to what I've found. The shadow chrome hides the brake dust miles better than stock silver, and even when they're filthy it's not as immediately obvious...

Agree - my choice of order.

For black to work you'd have to make other subtle changes to tie it together like black grille surround, black the centre grille 'splitter', even black headlight inners, etc. else they just look like any old wheel dropped on.

Dark CSL wheels look terrible with Imola red, stay silver or try the shadow chrome I hated mine so much I sold them and bought another set in silver. Much better.

I've just had The Wheel Specialist at Burton coat my wheels in black chrome. Probably very similar to shadow chrome.

The company's premises are spotless and they did a superb job. Very highly recommended.

I'm not too bothered about them looking dirty, they just go a nice matt finish.

daz05 - yes I think you're right. I was talking about it with a couple of friends we thought the same thing. The black wheels give it a very mean racer look, but they don't look right on their own, they don't quite "fit" the image of the car as it is. It would need a few other changes too and I'm not completely sure that's what aiming for necessarily.

codeandroad - nice. thanks for the pics. I think black chrome/ shadow chrome are near enough the same :)

I've asked for it to be done in shadow chrome but my indecisiveness has meant that I missed the pickup for this week, meaning they won't get picked up till next week and so I won't have the car back with them till the week after... oh well.

will try and post some pics once i get it back
