Hi all.
The black colour is wearing off the leather seats. Poor quality I think after 30 thousand miles but hey ho. Even the arm rest.

What's best to re colour them black again I don't want something that will keep need repplying. What is best to use ??

Thanks

Furniture clinic leather restorer. Wipe on, dry with a hair dryer. Makes a huge difference.

You can buy leather care kits, as said above Furniture Clinic are good, to sort your seats.

I use a leather cleaner first, then matching dye, then care balm (leather moisturiser or food).
The balm should be re-applied a couple of times a year to keep the leather supple; it also protects the leather to a degree.
If you take your time and use quality products, you can get them back to looking, and feeling, like new IMHO.

Don't forget to clean the steering wheel while you are at it; it's amazing how dirty it gets. :)

Scuff Master works very well, indeed.

Do not use other products that over-clean the leather before re-colouring.
After re-colouring, use Gliptone Conditioner as a cleaner.

For Alcantara, use Essential Waitrose Biodegradable Baby Wipes gently.

Same problem here so I bought this stuff this week. Hope to try it soon if the temperature drops a bit.
Scratch repair for furniture and shoes. Seems to have good reviews on Amazon

I'll give furniture clinic a try now then.

I used dodo juice on it last year to clean the seats. I'm sure that ruined them to be honest.

Thanks everyone

Wow, mine are about the same mileage 36k and don't look like that. I use Autoglym leather balm, and sometimes I add a couple of drops of black leather dye and work it in on the bolsters etc.20200813_205344.jpg

Just got a bottle of BMW black from the furniture clinic. May try in on the side bolster this week and will report.

Tried a small patch today, weather is cooler but peeing down most of the day.
My damage wasn't so bad, mostly seat belt rubbing. It looks better and the small tube should last a good while.
Next time I clean the interior I'll go at it in more detail

Gliptone is about as good as it gets
I don't see any gliptone black in the UK ...
:?
  • Gliptone hold a vast range of colours specific to make & model of car.
I've used their products on 2 Jaguars, a Porsche and my present Z, each of which I've had for at least 5 years.
I also used their one-off swatch service for the cushions on a leather sofa.
All their stuff and their service are first class.
Just contact them.

Dont waste your hard earned cash on any fancy treatments, a tin of black kiwi shoe polish, a small brush and a couple of microfibre cloths are all you need. It will recolour, and give you a great finish, I use this and the seats are soft, well coloured - it is very important to make sure they are well cleaned prior to any cleaning.
