Do you guys prefer these to the standard ones ? secondly can I get them cheaper than mstyle ?

JOE90, save yourself some money, paint them yourself. I did mine and they look great, just make sure you use a plastic primer, I painted mine Satin black. Grills come out quite easy so can be painted off the car without masking.
 
definitely mate. got mine from a german ebayer a while back but he doesnt appear to have them for sale at the mo. here's mine below. There a must imo on the black z4s

Black Kidneys are the mutts nutts, though try & go the whole hog with the inserts as been told if u just paint them has a tendency to crack as the fins flex a little at speed, unless u drive like Miss Daisey

Just to clarify I only painted the chrome surrounds as the fins are already black.

On the 1 series the chrome surround seperates from the fins. Think its the same on the Zed

Correct.

Unless you are truly ham fisted there is no real issue taking the chrome ring off the fins
 
One problem with just painting is stone chips, they are very visible as the light colored base plastic shows through. OTOH, once you've painted it once, it's so easy to touch up the paint that it's no big deal.
 
Being a lazy bugger, I am going to buy a set of blacks as I do a lot of miles and would spend forever touching up painted grilles. I do however have a question before I shell out on a set for my sapphire black Z - what's the general opinion on whether they should be matte black, chrome black or carbon ?
