Hey,

I'm looking for a Black Grille for the Z4, just wondering where the best place would be to get one...

Also, what are the chances of just getting the original sparyed?!

Regards,
Tom

Very likely if you went to a body shop, not so if you went to a church.

Ebay/BMW/Here are probably best place to find black grills.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll keep my eyes out! Dont really want to be spending £75 for a black grille, so going to ask a few sprays first and see how it goes!

If you are going to spray you will need to sand first, I then used some etching fluid which seems to work quite well, but it not perfect, and will need doing again.

Any chance you putting a quick How-To together?!

Obivously Remove then Sand...but what next?!

Also Whats sort of paint?!

I seperated the chrome grill from the black vents using a couple of dinner knifes being careful not to break the tabs, sanded and washed, and then applied some etching fluid which is available from hooby/craft shops or the net.

I used some MATT acrylic paint from screwfix, not sure if it the best type or not, but it's held up fairly well, I plan to sand again soon lightly to only remove loose paint apply more etching fluid and paint again.

When I did my first attempt I sanded then painted, but it chipped very quicly and when sanded again all paint was removed within seconds.
