Black grills

Can someone confirm if the black 'highline' kidney grills on the e89 were matt or gloss black from factory.

Thinking of changing mine which have a chrome ring around each grill and am not sure what colour to go for. Would gloss black look out of place with the rest of the Matt black plastic lower down in the bumper?

Has anyone fitted these? If so, advice is welcome. eBay / Amazon? Are they any recommendations or ones to avoid?

I am assuming the black high line grills you are referring to are the same as what BMW calls M Performance black grills? IN which case the surround which is normally chrome is gloss black but the slats are matt black.

Thanks both - good looking car Boltz. I haven't been able to find any aftermarket ones with gloss surround with matt black slats.

Not sure which way to go.. fully gloss or matt. Hmm? If anyone has fitted either I'd love to hear your feedback.

I'm definitely temped. Have you swapped your lower left and right grills too or left them stock? Can you upload a couple of pics?
 
Don't know what the desire is to fit Black Grills I have some full chrome one to fit on my 30.i I Like a bit of Bling
 
Thanks for the pics. Thinking 35i style grills could look good against my mineral white paintwork. Although I do like the black. Decisions decisions. :rofl:
 
I also went for OE M Performance grills and I am really pleased with them :D

warmasice....problem solved by buying a set of 35i grilles and a pair if OEM M sport black grilles then you can alternate between the two👍
