Black Grills on Grey Roadster

I'm in the same position, I want to give my lower grill a coat as its more of a grey/black and looks odd against the kidneys.

I've got some Plasti-kote satin black but the guy at B and Q said I didn't need primer. I'm not so sure of this, can anyone confirm this?

Plastikote mine on Friday, didn't use primer just cleaned the surface with white spirit, then did about 4 coats 30mins apart. Then left it overnight to dry.

Grilles before (surrounds are vinyl wrapped gloss black)

This was the first coat, I used the black satin paint

Done with surrounds refit.

I went for satin in the end, first coat on and drying now, will fit them around midnight tonight again probably so pictures up later in the week.

I suppose most accurately sums up the result of spray painting in an enclosed garage !

Yeah there an after market kit, front ones don't actually work very well. They shout while driving but stay perfectly quiet when parking :lol:
Rear ones work perfectly though, the front bumper had a respray the month before I got it so I think they damaged them

Mark-Z4, Any clues how easy the bottom grill is to remove? Mine could probably do with a colour matching to the kidneys also!

Just sprayed mine gloss black and thought I'd post since this thread provided the inspiration!

I did some surface prep, sprayed 3 coats of Plasti-kote Primer Super on the outers only and 4 coats of Plasti-kote Gloss Super on both parts.
