Black Front Grill's

I am looking for some Black front grills. Anyone selling some or know the best place to get them?

there is an old thread on here somewhere about painting them.

It is quite simple to pop them out. the chrome then separates.

i did mine about 10K miles ago. thought i was fairly anal about prep'ing and spraying but they have picked up a lot of chips.
 
I was looking at the black grills for my Z4 before I sold it. They're reasonably expensive but the existing ones can be painted fairly easily.
You may need special primer or paint to cope with the stone chips but it's definitely do-able.
 
I replaced my grilles from BMTown, got the full replacement ones. The quality is pretty good for £75, I replaced the chrome surrounds with the black replacement bits and kept the original main pieces. Have to admit that once fitted they do make the car look so much better, do it, you will not regret it. I've put some pics on the forum a while back in the general section if you want to have a look.
 
Think I will just buy the ones from BMTown.
is it as easy as take the old ones out including the chrome bit and put the new ones in?
 
It is very simple to remove the grilles. One at a time, take a firm grip of the grille with both hands and then pull down and out at the same time. It may feel like you are going to break them but that is the easiest way. As for the chrome surround, these are held in place with clips that go all the way around. Use a screw driver to lever one up at a time and work your way around, just be careful and don't bend them too far.

Can the chrome surround be used with the black inserts? Ideally want to spec my front grills to black verticals with the chrome surround. Or can you buy these as complete units?

That's what mine has, you can buy them but I couldn't say where though as I bought mine from a member on here.
 
The Black/Chrome rim grilles are standard on all models except the 3.0i/si. You can get them directly from the dealer.
 
Thanks Dave/MrGringo. I'm off to my local dealer tomorrow so I'll have a word with them and see what they have/can get.
