Black front bezel CD player mp3?

Hi all,

Am I correct in thinking that any black faced head unit plays mp3 CDs?

I have a grey unit on my 54 plate 3.0l and it won't play a mp3 cd. I have looked about and sure I found an answer in the past, but for the life of me I can't find it and want to be 100% correct before I buy a black unit!

Any help will be appreciated :)
 
Cheers mate, I can get hold of a damaged screen head unit form an 05 which is black .. Planning to swop over the fascia panel with my grey and have mp3 capability :)
 
Well after the confirmation that a black head unit works with mp3s I have now purchased it, hopefully the bezel change well go well and ill have mp3 play back ( will of course do some pics before, during, and after) just now waiting for "maxman" to wt back to me and I'll have a MFSW too ;) thanks again guys for your info :)
 
I get id3 tags... Artist and album on mp3 cd's.

Maybe its the way they are burnt.

I don't think so, my Ford displays them and all the directory info. It looks like the head unit with twin tuners (for TMC) had some additional features added. I've got to get mine replaced under warranty as it skips and occasionally refuses to read a CD so we'll see what happens when that's done.

Bezel change went nice and easy, just 4 torque screws :)

No mp3 tags (see pic)

I'm happy to have mp3 cd's working in the car :)

Sorry I am missing the point here. What did you change exactly on the head unit. It looks exactly the same as mine which doesn't play MP3's

I believe he changed the head unit for a later MP3 one but also swapped out his existing grey fascia so that it still matched the air vents :thumbsup:

Your correct I changed the fascia panel to match the grey :)
 
Confirming it's a revision thing. The new head unit was fitted today under warranty and the new one displays id3 tags as expected. It also gives TMC regardless of the station you are tuned into (dual tuner model) so I'm a happy bunny. :thumbsup:

Mine displays ID3 tags (as long as I stay below v2.2 of them), but only has single a tuner :cry:
