Black engine bay paint

My car is Sapphire Black but the engine bay paint is lighter in shade and looks like a single stage satin.
You can see the shock tower the paint is a lighter black than what is on the strut bar.
I haven't been able to find a specific colour code for the engine bay so was wondering if anyone could help?

Hi, I don’t know the colour code but mines the same black inside the engine bay and boot even though it’s a sterling grey car. We are not alone so someone out there will know I’m sure.

I believe the engine bay is simply the non-lacquered version of your external bodywork colour.

The strut braces were the same black, no matter what colour the car was.

That makes sense. Most metallic minishes are put on after a few base coats of colour. So BMW has applied the base coats in the he engine bay but not the finish.

I ended up just painting mine the same color black as the struts as I could not match the paint.

SEM is great paint, I've used it a lot on interior plastics and vinyl.
