Black + Chrome Grills

i got mine for £20-30 IIRC.

i sold my black and chrome grilles for £40, so i was actually paid to do the mod :P

if you keep your eye out on ebay you might get some popping up from time to time.

I would also look at getting the standard ones Vinyl wrapped, I'm no expert at this but it might be cheaper and get the required look without the need to fit new parts.

I wrapped the chrome on one side of mine with vinyl in under 5 mins - with the aid of a hair dryer, to heat shrink it under.... and it should be pretty durable - may do both sides and take a pic to show the effect.

I couldn't decide either. Aggressive or elegant.

So I did this instead:

This actually looks very nice - didnt think it would though.

A few people have commented that my car looks different but didnt realise it was the grilles - they thought maybe it was just dirty!!

I swapped my grey ones for black and chrome. Have never looked back.

The best way to describe it is actually that before, my car looked like it had a grey moustache!

Like that look imagine with black backed headlights no amber and some sort of black badge would look very mean

hmm i like the black surround and grey slats there. Looks good on a black car.

I have just stuck black grilles in mine and will keep them for a few months to see if i still like them. Its more aggressive as everyone says, but last thing i want is to get mistaken fr a 2.5  . Whadda you think..

They look better in black and chrome than the silver 3.0 ones.

dreamer with 3.0 badges on the sides i dont think you have to worry about getting mixed up :P

motionblurrrrrrrrrrr... that combo looks quite good. you could accent the lower parts of the slats by spraying them black from behinde. kind of fading from black towards the back to silver at the front if you get what i mean.

On my car i changed the grills to black with chrome surround. Looks meaner in my opinion and more in line with the overall black lines of the car..

I'll never change back..

i find the grey works well on grey cars, i have the grey ones on my strerling z4 and prefer them to the black, but then im doing a headlight project where im painting the inners a dark grey so it will match all over. i dont like the chrome on them though so may vinyl wrap over it in time

Quick post washing pre modding question. I've got a pair of black and chrome grilles to replace my grey ones. Trouble is that taking the grey ones off is proving tricky; they seem pretty stiff in there and I don't want to force them. Tried lifting and pulling but no luck.

Are there clips I need to depress on them or is there a simpler way of removing? Or do I just need to apply more force?!

Just re done mine in Vinyl. £5.00 from ebay 100cm x 60cm plenty if you cock it up and need to do again.

I found the paint kept chipping so hopefully this will last better, and black, on black, on black is the way to go. :D

Looks great all black. Vinyl option sounds lie a winner too. After a day in the sunshine Im not convinced by the black on my grey Zed. May change them back to the grey and chrome.

Is that with the chrome surround too? Going to leave the black on for a few weeks and see how I get on with them. Once I get my gunmetal wheels they might set them off more.
