Black alloys

Black on black is a no from me.

Provided that I don't get any shocks at MOT time I am looking to get my wheels refurbished (and the calipers painted). Despite vowing to keep it original-looking, I am seriously tempted to get the wheels done in shadow chrome.

I looked at shadow chrome and was put off by the process in which they do it.
It seems a bit hit and miss with the exact finish as it is done by coating the wheels black first and then blowing over with silver.
The amount of silver can change every time and so wheels can look slightly different.
If refurbing 1 wheel after kerbing to match the other 3 it can be very difficult especially as every place will have a different process for doing it.

Only a personal opinion of course but I always think black wheels make the car look like an old Cortina where someone's nicked the hubcaps! ... Each to their own though ... :)
What model cortina? M3 with vinyl roof

Nah! ... Mark 1 1300 .... what a car! I drove one once for some reason ... sort of thing you always remember! ...

Lol, my mate used to have a bright yellow Mk3 with black vinyl roof. We used to start it with a flick knife across the solenoid. I think that's what it was called. After a few months the blade on the knife resembled a corroded deep sea relic. That would've been early 80's. Good times
This isn't his car but it's the sameScreen Shot 2017-04-25 at 17.04.18.png

This is a case of taste, and only your taste counts on your car. I prefer the stealth all blacked-out look.
Here's a few pics, black on black and one silver on black. Maybe these'll help sway your decision.

Didn't mean to sound harsh! ... :? ... interesting that you're flogging them though. Can we have an 'after pic' to make a comparison please?

They were bought to refurb with the idea of fitting them on the silver grey ZC I had at the time but never got round to doing so before it was sold
The gen CSLs in shadow chrome are going back on probably at weekend once the rear tyres are changed
