Bit of tinkering £70 later and No fuel WTF

Been busy on the zed today, I was all excited about getting my new 19" csl alloys and knew they were getting delivered for this afternoon, so this morning I decided to jack it up and remove the wheels and have good look around as I've only had the car about a month, been reading through this forum about the Hood motor failure thought I'd check to see if mine is flooded, anyways I first shone a torch down the drivers side and I could see some water down their, I used a syringe and some pipe and got about 200ml out, I then decided to try and locate the drains to check if they blocked which they were, managed to unblock them fortunately there was very little water from the side where the motor sits. But on the drivers side there was still water and I unblocked it from the bottom, but no water came out, so I got some really thin plastic rod from a old patio umbrella and had a go rodding it from above after about 5 mins of fumbling about I managed to find the drain hole and all the water ran out, I thought happy days job done refitted the covers....

Few hours later the wheels turn up "buzzin" fit the wheels all good, next thing was to take it for a a spin and get some fuel as it only had about 20 miles range left...
I decide to nip to Asda petrol station, it's a unmanned and pay at pump station, £70 later I jump in the car to see that my fuel gauge has barely moved, I was like WTF the pump must be faulty or something and then I thought we'll it was tripping and not letting me put any more in so it must be full, then i thought "Noooooo" I bet I've damaged some cabling when I was fumbling around try to rod the drain holes. Thinking this is gonna be right difficult / expensive fix...

As I was driving home the gauge started to slowly rise and is now at about half way, I left it for a hour or so and went out to check it again and its still not moved much, but one thing i have noticed is that if I leave the ignition on and look at the range on the dash is slowly going up by a mile every 10 sec or so...

So now I'm thinking that because it been up on jack and had new wheels fitted and had the run flat button pressed as the light came on with the new wheels, has it messed up the fuel level datum and it just a case of waiting for it to sought itself out. I do hope so, I just wonder if any body could shed any light on this?
 
It's probably the rubbish Asda petrol. Buy some proper stuff from Shell and maybe your car will acknowledge it :D

Funny thing is the last tank was bp ultimate... It must know
 
I had this happen on my old smart. if I filled the tank too full the float would get bogged down or something and not read properly until the level went down about 1/8 of the way. hopefully the zed has the same kind of system which is causing the problem.
 
Sometimes my gauge appears to stick showing more petrol than I know I have there. Usually corrects itself after switching on again. I assume that there's a float in the tank that sticks. Easiest way to resolve is to put more fuel in to free it up.
 
My X5 did this once. Scared the b'jesus out of me regarding the cost.

But a day or so later, it was all normal and ok for a further year before it was sold.

Good call I've just disconnected the battery left it a while and the rechecked and the tank is now reading full, what a relief

However I've just noticed that the key no longer puts the windows up it does the roof fine? Any thoughts,

Also if I was to get some custom coding done would it mean if the battery gets disconnected would you lose the custom coding carried out?
 
You will have to do a window reset, don't worry if it does not work first time.
Do a search for instructions, quite easy.

On the forum, to save time looking this is how
Close doors and switch on ignition ,open the window and hold the window switch down for 5 sec,next close the window and hold the button in the closed position again for 5 sec. Do the same for both windows. It took mine about 3 or 4 goes for them to close as they should.

No, personal coding, like auto lock or indicator flash is set up in your keys. If you have 2 keys you could have a completely different setup for each key.
