bit of a tyre conundrum.

Need new rear tyres on the Z4.

Currently have 235/35/19 Avon ZZ3's on a 10'' wheel, which makes for interesting tail out action, which I don't always want!

The wheels originally had 265/30's on but they rubbed the wheel arch liners when doing 72mph. Must be all that downforce...

Ideally I want to go as wide as possible without cutting anything up, so wondered whether going for 255/30 this time would eradicate the tail happiness and also be ''narrow'' enough not to rub the liner. It is 10mm less, after all.

Any ideas? I don't really want to waste over 350 quid trying this out

According to the online calcs you are heading in the right direction / by approx 10mm less overall diameter & the gap between top of tyre & arch should increase by 5mm ? Not a lot but will help

Cheers Mr wilks. I'm hoping they'll be fine as they only caught the plastic liner over 70mph, and didn't wear any plastic away, just scuffed it slightly. So couldn't have been catching much at all.

Now, before I think about changing tyres, I need to find my locking wheel nut key :headbang:

I've no issues with a 255/30 on a 10j wheel.

You might even want to just look into a part worn pair initially and see how it reacts. At least it'll be much cheaper!

Thanks Neil. Whats the offset of your 10'' rears?

Adamaki, I haven't :( would like them done for clearance but people say it can crack the paint.
