Hi guys,

I'm due to to fly to Dubai on Thursday (23rd) and am wondering if I'm actually going to get there because of the weather :? We don't have the snow in Rotherham (surprisingly) but it seems like the rest of the country does!
I'm flying from Birmingham at 1.30pm, so just wondering if any of you guys there can shed any light on what the weather is like there or any information on the airport? Pictures would be appreciated too.

I don't want to get all excited about drinking cocktails in my bikini on the beach on Christmas day and then not be able to get there!

Thanking you :)

Birmingham East Midlands? Dont you mean Nottingham? :P

You should be fine Lucy, there was barely any snow there like us (the most recent bout at least). Just keep an eye out over the next few days!

Bon voyage, soo jealous!! :)

Hi Lucy

I live not far from Brum. Most of the snow was Saturday (about 5''-6''). Had some more since then but nothing major. Main roads and motorways are slippy/slushy but clear. Many Birmingham roads are ungritted as the council went on strike. I still don't think it'll stop you getting to the airport.

More heavy snow is forcast tonight though.

Editted: just to say I live west of b'ham, where as your going north east.

Client flew to Dubai this evening from Gatwick, the thaw is on, so no worries

I'm an idiot. I couldn't remember if I was flying from Birmingham or East Midlands and I was writing this whilst I was checking, and accidently wrote both  You know me, Ed!

Thanks for all the replies. I have my fingers crossed for a smooth journey.

Yes, and bits more through Wednesday.
We'll have a better idea tomorrow.
I'd hope that if you stick to the motorways you should be OK

www.bhx.co.uk or www.birminghamairport.co.uk is the airport website

I have a flight on Jan 4th, but at 06:00, so that's not going to be much fun :(

I have friends who flew out from Birmingham today to Cyprus.. with no delays.. and queues not excessivly long for this time of year.

Nottingham/ Derby has less snow then bham.. so def shouldnt be any weather delays there.

The same cant be said for Heathrow.. my flight last sat was cancelled and i am finally getting a flight tomorrow.. 4 days later! :headbang:

"Client" as in a guy that called into your shop for a sarnie

You may be drinking cocktails in your bikini on the beach in Cleethorpes if it gets much worse up there in the midlands Lucy. Saying that though, I'm sure Birmingham Airport is a lot more efficient at keeping things clear than the soft southern ones so you should be okay. Have fun :)
