Bird Strike

The last few weeks I've been unlucky to have two bird strikes - One unfortunate blackbird bashed the lower grill off its mounting clips and and tonight an unfortunate magpie cracked its way thro the lower grill of Mrs K's 335 - the grill is intact but I will use some epoxy resin in the hope it will stabilise it for the next time.

I knew there was trouble when I didn't see the cloud of feathers - the poor old magpie spent the last few minutes of life travelling at speed, wings outstretched and head to one side - it was very difficult to get out and epoxy resin isn't going to mend that!

At least it's the birds you attract. :) My son has only manage a couple of old deers, one in his old Ka and one in his Mx5.

Ouch! :o

I hit a seagull in Brighton in the late 70s, then no issues at all until late 2014 on my way to Silverstone and a pheasant decided to get intimate with my E86. Just 18 months later on the A40 in my E46 it was a grouse!

Had to extricate the pheasant from the lower grille below the fog-light, which wasn't easy, but the grouse ripped the mounting off the wheel-arch liner. :headbang:

So now I keep gloves and gaffer tape in both cars!

That's *kof* foul!

Last week I saw out of the corner of my eye a small dark coloured bird flying into my path...then "ping" and it bounced off back in a similar direction! Left a few feathers but don't know if it died.

I kinda hope that if it did die, it was quick, not lying on the floor in pain.

Ran over a pheasant a few months ago...too be fair though, I didn't see it until it came out from underneath the Range Rover in front of me! Tried to swerve but not enough time/room and I think I actually went over it with my wheel. I genuinely felt guilty about that.

I wouldn’t get upset over the magpie, nasty little bastards, raid nests and pick the eyes and intestines out of new born lambs.... :headbang:

Pheasants are bloody stupid birds, they have a death wish

To be fair I think that's why they're raised for shoots - they are so dozy you'd struggle to miss!

I used to shoot and we used to have a pre season vermin shoot - Magpie nests are armour plated!
Magpies are very attractive birds but evil.

Problem now though, you can't shoot any bird that were known as vermin/pest. We have crows nesting in woods opposite, they used to be culled but thanks to Mr Packham, that's all stopped.

Who says you can’t.....??

Exactly what I think, lovely looking birds and very clever but bad buggers.
