where some bird poo was left on my bonnet its left some dull patches how do you get these off?
do i need to get some sorts of swirl remover stuff

Bird poo is real caustic stuff and eats at the paint quickly. :(

I always try and clean it off as soon as I see it. I have a slight mark on my bonnet which wasl caused by bird poo eating into the lacquer coating. I had to have mine rotary buffed and polished which managed to get rid of most of the mark, but not all.

Really depends on how bad the damage is. I would give it a real good hand rub using a good polish followed by a good wax, hopefully it will get rid of most of it.

this happened on a previous car, they did sort of diminish over time.

The birds you mean? Yeah I'm gonna get an air rifle and diminish the s**t machines that bomb my Zed too.

i tried taking a pic but the rain is not helping. you can see there is a dull bit in the reflection of the tree.
where i live and work has loads of trees and magpies so it almost impossible to get off quick and its a daily problem.
even when i clayed and then polished after it didn't go away. ill have to try by hand as i dont have a polisher.

The trick is to get the splat off as soon as possible even if you just quickly wipe off with a bit of wet bog roll or a damp paper towel. Gives less time for damage to occur. Apparently paint is affected faster in high temperatures.

Looks like its eaten into the lacquer slightly, what colour is the car? If its black try some Poorboy BlackHole over the top of it to see if it glazes it enough to bring back a bit of the shine then seal it. If that doesn't work you're probably looking at wet sanding and machine polish to get rid of it completely.

Try claying it first... If that doesnt work something like G3 should bring it back to life... Then polish and wax it.

thanks

ive tried claying and black hole and thats the result.

dont like the sound of wet sanding ... sounds like i would make it worse. i hoped i coulduse something like G3 and then G10 to bring it up.

Before wet sanding i would try G3 with some elbow grease!

Then some srp (or other filler polish)

If blackhole hasn't touched it, the SRP won't, blackhole is about the most filler intensive product I know.
G3/G10 may have enough cut, but again it may just be worth giving it to a detailer/bodyshop to wet sand and machine polish. I wouldn't really recommend trying it by hand though.

i think thats what im going to do, ive got some g10 and i think a mate has some g3 so ill give that a go by hand and see if it gets anywhere and if it doesnt ill take it somewhere.

i need to get the front bumper resprayed anyway and now there looks like a graze on the door from something :( and there are loads of little scratches here and there so maybe i could get the lot done in 1 go???

i was thinking of getting some of that scratex stuff for the little scrapes but if someone can do it for me then probably better. the thought of wet sanding is not good.

anyone recomend a good place in liverpool for any of this? anyone want to do it in exchange for some beer/beertokens?
