Bilstein B6 vs. BMW Adaptive Struts?

For those of you who have replaced your BMW adaptive struts with Bilstein B6 struts, what is your consensus? If the BMW adaptives were the same cost as Bilstein, would you have still preferred the Bilsteins?

Please, only comment if you have actually switched from adaptives to Bilstein.

My conundrum. If I go with Bilstein, I have to purchase 4. Best price for Bilsteins B6's with strut mounts is $991. Alternately the best price for (2) BMW adaptives is $1564.

I originally planned to go with the Chinese knock off, but after extensively checking then out, I'm not comfortable with them.

Not sure about on your side of the pond but you can get the adaptive reconditioned over here at approx £200 a corner iirc HTH

I checked the Polish site. Rebuild price is $350 and I would have to ship them to Poland and wait to get them back. Have to pay shipping both ways and who know what other charge. Also, car would be out of service for weeks.

No one in the USA rebuilds these shocks.

On the Nagengast website, they are 328 Euros each, which today is £276.

Presumably plus packing & carriage, VAT, import duty, VAT on the import duty, labour and VAT.

Still cheaper than OE via an AD, though.
