Bilstein B4s

Hello all!

I'm looking to replace the struts and springs on the car, just to freshen everything up and its the last of the suspension parts.

Question is twofold! Firstly, is the Bilstein B4 the best OEM equivalent for M Sport shocks?

Secondly, do they have built in bump stops on the front, like the B6 and above, or do I need to replace the OEM ones?

Thank you!

One more question for anyone thats done a shocks/springs change, is it worth changing the spring pads too, or are they generally okay as they are?

i would say go for B6 shocks as replacement for M sport shocks, & B4's for normal shocks. what are you looking for performance-wise ??

doing the spring pads also is inexpensive so good to do while you have everything out. i did it on mine

Only issue with that being the B6 cost is significantly higher than the B4, in fact it seems I can get the B12 kit for cheaper than the B6s for the car.

I just want to restore the car back to factory, as it were. I don't want to modify anything and I'm reasonably happy with the ride presently, but I'm sure 13 year old shocks that have covered 100k miles are well past their best and any change will be a noted improvement.

To answer my own question, it appears the B4 is a direct OEM replacement according to Bilstein, and as such requires the OEM bump stops and boots.

Also ordered some Suplex springs for the front, as I figured it makes sense for the small outlay to just change them while the shocks are off. Also ordered OEM spring pads for the front, new top mounts all round and new bump stops and boots.

Busy Sunday ahead, then straight to the garage Monday morning

As there is no difference in the shocks for std/m sport suspension B4s are the OE equivalent. B6 are upgrade std length (also suitable for M Sport), B8 upgrade shortened to match Eibach springs.
