Apologies for bringing up an old age topic.

I spent some time reading old forum posts and there doesn't appear much consensus on whether B4s are m-sport suspension OEM or not. There's a lot of contradictory information/opinions.

I guess I may need to get on the phone but just wondered if anyone had something definitive from a reliable source.

My current thinking is that the B4s can't be OEM for both SE (say non-m sport susp) and si (say m sport susp) so would be more inclined to believe B4s are non m-sport suspension and B6/8s are m-sport suspension equivalent.

I appreciate either will probably be an upgrade on the current old shocks on the car but would like to be closer to the original shocks.

Also, would like to hear from anyone that decided to stick with Sachs. Can't seem to find much info on the web about the different shocks they supply.

B6 and b8 are both monotube dampers vs the twin tube setup of both the standard suspensions. They are not alike in anyway

My research 🧐

B4 M sport equivalent
B6 stiffer than M sport with standard height springs
B8 as above with lowered springs
B12 is B8 with Eibach pro springs

I went with Eibach pro springs and B4s and it’s firm but not harsh

Good summary..

This.

One thing to add though is that B4s work with standard suspension all the way through to approx 30-35mm lower than standard IIRC.

I have the b12 kit and my car is pollybushed. It’s a real bone shaker, very firm and I struggle with any kind of speed bump or ramp. Looks great though and is planted when having fun on decent roads.

It’s not too bad to be honest. I’ve done quite a few long road trips and cruising on the motorway is pretty decent. It’s just on some of the poorer quality roads you feel every bump and crease in the road.

Thank you for all your comments.

I think I'll stay clear of the B8/B12 kit as it does seem quite a harsh ride from all accounts.

For those that state the B4 are m-sport suspension equivalent - how did you reach this conclusion?

Thanks
