Bilstein B12 and Z4C

Having just had the style 224 and new Goodyear Asymmetric 3 installed, instead of worn down Pirelli run flat tyres and Chinese ditch finders, the handling and grip is transformed.

However, as the ride height with 18" wheels and correct Z4C tyres now appears somewhat "off road" style and given the fact that the car is at 120.000 km, I was thinking of a suspension refresh.

The Bilstein B12 with a 30 mm drop front and 20 mm drop rear, with springs that are not prone to breaking appears to be the chosen upgrade path.

As the 224 style wheels are already flush with the fender at the rear, how does lowering affect potential rubbing? And does any have problems with clearing speed bumps or entering car parks with the lower front?

I'd be interested as well, to hear from people who've got this set-up fitted. Do you get any rubbing?

Also, whats the ride quality like? Bilstein say its still good but they would!

Be good to see some pictures of your car with this kit, to see how it sits!

I had 224s with H&Rs and it was too low for me, but that was on tired standard shocks so I switched to KW V2s

I am getting closer to ordering this - my independent BMW garage who would install it can get the kit for 800 euro, I would want new top mounts and reckon on 3 hours install + plus an alignment.

Still not 100 % sure due to the risk of too low front and rubbing, so keen to hear from any with this setup.

you might want to source it yourself: value of the pound is about 1:1 so this is about 100 less: https://www.dcperformance.co.uk/uprated/bilstein-b12-suspension-kits/BMW/z4-e85.html

I've got the B12 and i'm runing 108s also fitted polybushes all round so it's a bit crashy on the really bumpy stuff, but on the smooth stuff fantastic!!!

Just to confirm that the B12 kit is great! Had it installed by my independent in less than 2 hours, new top mounts, and rear shock covers.

It is actually much better at absorbing small bumps than the standard SE (not M Sport suspension) and has lowered everything nicely, a 30 mm drop on the front and 20 mm at the rear, and even with the 224 wheels that have an aggressive off-set, zero rubbing issues.
