Hi,

Does Big Brake Kit from E46 M3 fit our beloved Z4M ??? Theres lot more 2nd hand stuff going on M3 forums than Z4...

Thank you for your answers.

Yes they will fit although you might say they wont be optimised to our cars. Brake kits are usually calibrated to play well with the brake master cylinder of the particular car they're meant for, at least the reputable brake kits are. It's not that they wont fit, or wont work, they just won't be as "tuned" as a kit meant for a Z4M for example. Take from that what you will. A completely street driven car won't see much difference anyway.

thanks for replies...

my reason will be completely cosmetical, as I never driven the M in a way that I would recognise that the stock callipers are insuficient.

The 19 inch 220M wheels have very thin spokes and massive red 6 calliper pot will fill up the hollow space really good.

In that case you will be perfectly fine with an M3 kit. Why not buy a cheap new kit from manufacturers such as K-Sport or XYZ? Big callipers, big discs and flashy colours. They'll work perfectly as well. OK they're not premium brands but you could theoretically remove or paint over the decals so no one will know what brand they are, if you want to.

I'm not interested in those kits, I read some stuff i didnt really like...
I want premium brands at most affordable price
brembos , ap , stoptech ... etc...

Well i know mates with AP's and i personally have Stoptechs on my car. The Stoptechs perform brilliantly but their paint finish is mediocre. It chips and you better not drip brake fluid on them! It'll strip the paint right off!! I don't know how the red AP's stack up but the gunmetal ones hold up just fine in their finish, can't even tell if they're dirty or not...

Hi, Been down this road after I took my AP kit off my E46 M3 prior to selling. I spoke to AP asking if the M3 kit would bolt on to an E86 Z4MC OK. The rears are no problem, but I was told that the fronts need different bells and brackets, same rotors and callipers. I have not tried the AP kit on yet to see the difference, or where there might be fouling with the M3 hardware. Hope this helps.
Cheers

There shouldn't be any issue with bells and new calliper brackets (i assume you mean the calliper carriers?) should already come with any brake kit. There might be an issue with the dust shields, i think most if not all kits have this, but those can be bent or trimmed as needed. Our stock brakes are the same as the CSL and apart from larger front discs and different front calliper carriers the same as normal M3's, so since carriers already come with brake kits you should be sorted with any M3 kit then. If i have this wrong please correct me :)
