Big Brake Upgrades

Thanks mmm-five, knew someone would have heard of them.

To get to the same 6 pot 345mm spec wouldn`t you be spending a lot more though? Could you post a link to similarly priced set ups?

Many thanks!
Okay - these prices are just the first I found with a quick google search, so they may not be accurate (up or down).
  • AP 6-pots - http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/detprod.asp?productcode=CP5575-1004&PID=1075126 (using 5575 caliper) - for £2100 (£2000 at Demon Tweeks)
  • AP 6-pots - http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/detprod.asp?productcode=CP5555-1037&PID=1075070 (using 5555 caliper) for £2100 (£2000 at Demon Tweeks)

  • Brembo 6-pots - http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/detprod.asp?productcode=BR-1M1.8008A&PID=626237 for £3000 (£3000 at Demon Tweeks)

  • Tarox 10-pots - http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/detprod.asp?productcode=KMBM0515-10&PID=442542 - for £2100

However, as were talking about a 'less known' brake manufacturer, we should also compare the Galfer ones to some other 'cheap' ones like K-Sport (sponsor the UK Time Attack series).
  • K-Sport 8-pots - http://www.ksport.co.uk/order.asp?id=116&loc=2 (with 356mm disc) - for £800 (+£200 for decent pads)

The six pot Stoptech fronts go for around £2,375 and 4 pot rears for £1,964 at CA-Automotive http://ca-automotive.co.uk/single_prod-cHJvZF9pZD0xNzcy.html

I really liked those BMW motorsport ones Speed religion were selling! Shame they don't exist any more...I only need the bracket!

Just copy what the CSL lot do... £1500-£2000 isn't it? Must be good if the CSL lot use it for hard track work?!

You would also maybe get £500 for your CSL setup to sell on to an M3 owner?

I'd love a CSL set up (relatively cheap for what you get) but unfortunately the struts/hubs are different :(

The Z4M standard brakes are the same as the CSL's.

I think he's suggesting that he'd like to have them on his (non-M) Z4, which is not a feasible mod.

I have done alot of resurch on the big brake upgrade packages and having had several AP upgrades in the past decided to stick with what i have been more than happy with.
Having looked at getting a second hand set of fr/rr on Pistonheads i rang AP and they are infact about 2mm out from the CSL Package. I upgraded my white Z4MC with EBC Yello stuff pads and found then pretty good on track days and more importantly on the ring but the noise just put me off going for th same again on the Z4MR.
I was adviced by AP UK to speak to Quest Mead and they gave me a price which was £280 cheaper than Demon Twaets and aslo required no deposit to order.
I will post pictres when they arrive.

Really interested too, what were you quoted ££s in the end from Quest Mead?? Did you go for red or black caplipers??

Sorry not to reply sooner but been away with work!

Quest quoted me just shy of 3k for the front and rears and i also went for red as tempted later to get some BBS CH Blacks.

Also felt tht the red calipers being of a gloss finish will be easyier to keep clean.
