Beyond a joke!

Right, 45 mins on the phone, lots of tooing and froing, and ive agreed on £125 to paint the whole side of the car, blended into all panels. Should actually be in better condition than when i bought it so not too annoyed. As long as they do a good job. Will post some photos when/if i ever get her back.
Are they doing it themselves?

No its going to the same paint shop that did my front bumper. Did a good job on that (looked a bit off to begin with but now looks spot on, ever so slightly different as its plastic but only visible up close in direct sunlight). So i trust them this time. If its carp i wont pay and il get it redone simple as that so not too much too lose.

Glad the car is getting resolved (most important in terms of hassle) and if the paint job looks better than original then that will be a positive result. Perhaps wait until you get it back and then write a letter to a couple of senior people at BMW explaining how badly you were treated and how you ended up out of pocket. Perhaps Dealer Group Director and head of marketing at BMW UK?

Might not get you your money back but might lead to dealer who messed you around getting 'feedback' from on high and give you some sort of sense of redress/closure. It may even get you a freebie.

Good luck.

Guys, I don't believe this issue is with a BMW dealer - it's an independent trader!

BMW care little about what their franchised dealers do anyway, so they'll care even less about this :P

I agree with SimonJ - BMW seem very 'keen at the moment on customer satisfaction and dealer performance - it do think a letter 'high up' will filter down to a dealer - I've done this and BMW seem interested in not only the dealer but individual staff!- - so do go ahead and send this!
I'm sure the care will look great- have a good summer!

Sorry guys, this isnt a BMW dealer ive been dealing with, its a private dealer in Whittlesey. I would be mortified if BMW treated a customer like this, but i almost accept its going to happen with a generic used car dealer nowadays. Anywho things are looking up, a full side respray being blending into boot, rear bumper, front bumper and bonnet for £150 is a bit of a result if done to the same standard as the previous bumper respray. Next up insurnace renewal next month!! The costs never end but i love her to pieces!

Did not read other post -

I am impressed you manage to get so much out of a private dealer... 'only' forking out £150 looks like a bit of a result to me (assuming quality is high)

So, i got my car back after the full side respray.... Couldnt be happier, absolutely perfect, all panels match, smooth as you like and most importantly no sign of the damage.

Did also 'forget' to take enough cash so only paid £120 instead of the £150 previously agreed. Picked up from the dealer owners house as it was closer to me and the paint shop that his forecourt so no card machine available to pay the extra. What a shame!! :P

All in all im glad its done, sorted and out of the way, plus kinda happy it all happened as there were a couple of other marks on the side which are now gone. A bargain at £120.

Now bought the chrome exhaust tips, cruise control will be on its way next month, along with a full set of carbon badges as the laquer on my front and boot roundels is damaged.

Finally, if people remember i had problems with my service history, having lost the book (numpty). Almost fully complete now, just need to get a stamp from the original dealer for the run in service and first oil service and it will be done. Turns out that my inspection 2 is slightly overdue so that's booked in for next week £125 at local indie as it had an oil service rather than inspection 2 when i bought it. So they said the oil service part is not required again and i am supplying my own spark plugs.

Once these little bits are sorted il be ready and set for the summer.... If we get another summer and the 3 weeks of sun in March wasnt it.

Apologies for the ramble, il also post some pictures when the waterfall outside ceases.
