Yes you're right about these specific wheels posted on ebay. The 3 series and the Z4 have the same offsets, but the 5 and 7 series have their own. The seller should not have advertised the wheel as fitting all of these series because it won't work. Point well taken, cheers!srhutch said:

Cool 'sr' just goes to show that research pays off Vs generic comment by vendors that things will or won't work.
Anyway - stick with 108's even if you customise them as they are by far the coolest Z4 wheel.

I might just do that, am waiting to hear from dealer if they will change them under warranty yet, they took pics on tuesday, to send off, but I dont think they will change yet, so will probably have to stick a set of Falkens on very soon as rears only 2mm left. If they will swap I will just ask for the boxed rims and find something else to put on for the winter and use the 108's more in the summer maybe

Anyway I had 8.5x19"s fitted on the front of my coupe with a 35 offset and they rubbed the inner wheel arch. The lower th offset the further out they will stick.
Unless of course they are designed for an M car and then the 15 is the offset for the rears, in which case the fronts will fit but the rears will stick too far out!
Hopefully that makes sense. So to summaries you can get with a 35mm offset on the front and about a 40mm offset on the rear (possibly slighty more on the back) Thats for a non M car.

8x18 with a 47 offset front
8.5x18 with a 50 offset rear

tyre sizing is another query as i made a mistake an e46 325 i had by putting 8.5j schnitzer replicas on all round the wheel man said my 225s and 255 tyres would fit spot on well they didnt, the rears looked fine sat in the arch perfectly and tyres wrapped round them spot on. But the fronts stuck out the arch to far and the 225s looked stretched on a 8.5j rim. Obviously i dont want to make this mistake again but there doesnt seem to be definative set of staggered wheeels or all the same wheels that we all agree will fit! Personally id like a set of csl reps but i aint buying 8.5j all round no matter how much a wheel shop tells me a 225 tyre fits i know it doesnt look right. Is there anywhere UK based that understands our staggered set up nightmares!

I would tend to agree with the last post. On the Alpina Roadster S, the wheels are 19" x 8.5" front with tire size 235/35R19 and in the rear 19" x 9.5" with tire size 265/30R19. So for both front and rear, they used 10mm wider tires to better fit the wider wheels. If I was going for a change in wheels, I would opt for the same 19" options as on the Roadster S.

I'm not sure if I'm going to change my wheels or not, depend if BMW will replace mine under warranty or not yet.

Spot on - one keys is that you got reference from prior buyers. On this advert ( and commented on simply as it's posted and referenced) a full set inc. tyres for £629. Well what are the 'performance tyres' fitted. If I benchmarked at Falken price of £370 supplied and fitted (and I bet that they are a much lowere spec tyre) that leaves approx. £260 / £65 per rim. What can I really expect for that in terms of product and quality when a single BBS 108 is around £300???

Nice to hear peoples opinions on these ebay wheels, really just confirmed to me that you cant really afford to be risking buying them, there is always going to be a doubt in my mind whether they will fit properly when they arrive or be of an acceptable quality! One thing i have noticed on nearly all the replica/ aftermarket alloys on ebay is they come in many sizes 8j 8.5j 9j with various offsets saying they will fit e36 e46 z3 z4 e39 m3s etc. I hope soon a supplier gets the BMW alloy wheel market nailed with proper staggered wheels quality tyres that are tried and tested and you can be confident in buying! Until then im still searching for some 108s or ellipsoids to refurb and customize!
