Give the non-emergency number (or local police station) a call. If it's someone they already suspect, then maybe it will help in setting up an operation to catch him & his mates in the act - it may not just be a one-off.z4man2020 said:Is it worth me reporting this to the police?
Not sure if they'll just tell me to sod off. DVLA may be better?

Very dodgy indeed!
Absolutely. Let us know how you get on. Here's his facebook page:enuff_zed said:Wigsters said:I would say the police would be interested, maybe trading standards? They are probably looking for idiots like that all the time.

Certainly wouldn't do any harm to flag it up. Probably a drop in the ocean, but have to start somewhere with these people.

Insurers and salvage firms have protocols to ensure category B vehicles cannot be repaired but some do slip through and there are myriad stories of cars being wrongly classified, or not classified at all. This may be a perfectly decent Z4 that can be put back on the road, but changing the identity is not the right or legal way to do it.![]()

A cat b is a break for parts only vehicle. Once the parts are removed the shell muct be cut in a way it cannot be used in full again on the road. That if being dealt with by a responsible salvage agent. The shell could end up as a track car but not back on the road. If it did end up on the road it would how this guy is trying to do it.. Totally illegal
