Beware Motorised W***er!

Being a late starter to the BMW marque, I had always wondered what BMW actually stood for. It dawned on me, through casual observation over the years that it clearly means Beware Motorised W***er and unfortunately now that I own a Zed, my opinions have not changed.

Two, BMWs (not Zeds) in one day, today clearly evidencing my thoughts. One, tailgating me at 75 mph on a long dual carriageway on a wet road while I was overtaking a stream of slower moving traffic on the inner lane for several miles. The second one, this evening, pulling up behind me at speed, just short of impacting me as I slowed down approaching road works where workmen were on the dual carriageway. There were two large illuminated lorries spread over a distance of a couple of hundred yards with flashing arrows indicating which lane to use whilst the other was being worked on. Don't get me wrong, everyone makes mistakes, and also when driving, but these morons were driving in an openly agrressive, rude, inconsiderate and intimidating manner as if they were the only drivers allowed to be on the road, a typical F you! attitude. I've seen this type of behaviour from mostly BMW drivers on the continent as well. It's not because I now own a BMW that I recognise one more readily, my observations start long before I owned one.

Just what is it about the marque which attracts more than it's fair share of morons who think that just because they can operate a machine with four wheels means that they are good drivers? If they behaved the same way as pedestrians, they'd be hospitalised pretty soon I'd imagine. Hopefully, they will be hospitalised as drivers too (not their passengers), in that way the roads will become safer.

There's are just as many BMW 1 & 3 series on the roads, in Britain, as Ford Fiestas & Focuses and just as many BM Wa###rs as Ford ST chavs. It's simple maths.

Can't say I've experienced the same as you Geezah.
But don't get me started on the People Carrier Minibuses we're plagued with in London.

Indeed. For a car that is by no means cheap, there does seem to be a hell of a lot of Beemers on the UK roads.
I think in general most forum members of any car are the more considerate drivers being that they take more pride in their motors and dont wish to see it mashed into another car in front.

Plenty of wankers on the road. Nothing does my head in more that tailgating on the motorway.

Most of the times i find it's the usual rep mobile culprits (Audi A3/A4, Vauxhall Insignia, BMW 1Series) and the TDi boys thinking they have a sports car.

It's all cars. I had a Maserati doing 90 past me on a pitch black B road on Sunday. A couple of hours before I had a bint in a micra nearly crash into me as she was stuffing a muffin into her trap and merged at the absolute last minute.

I spend more time watching / anticipating for bad driving than anything else. A couple of hours on the British road system is enough to remove your faith in mankind.

In my experience the Citroen Picasso is the fastest car on the road! - they always tail gate, undertake and never travel below the speed limit omitting black dust as they go

This could be down to the fact the young children in the back need to be home early or they are just driving the parents mad! Another theory is that the driver doesn't want to be recognised driving one - but look out for them - you will never see a slow one!

It's not only BMW as a marque that suffers this type of driver. Audi and to a lesser extent Mercedes also, not to mention Mondeos, Focus' and various Vauxhalls.

Generally it's reps of some description in a fairly expensive car that they didn't pay for. Aggressive people in a flashy car is a recipe for screwing up.

Once the car devalues with age, the chavs move in and buy their aspirational car, and drive it like they stole it.

Best to move over and let them go trawling for the cops ahead...

How did you know that I also drive a Citroen Picasso Diesel (surf wagon extraordinaire!) Stan!? ....Spooky!

A relative by marriage only that I don’t get on with at all, recently when I bought my Zed posted the following on twitter and facebook aimed at me of course, headline then text, unfortunately for him I’m over 50 and my Zed is Black, I think it was part of a Daily Mail news item

Beware of blue BMW drivers who really are the most aggressive and more prone to road rage when they get behind the wheel

Men who drive blue BMWs are more likely to be aggressive than motorists in any other car, a study claims.
And the peak time for drivers to get angry is 5.45pm on a Friday as they fight the rush-hour – followed by the dismal Monday morning commute.
The likeliest road rage culprits are men aged 35-50 with blue BMW cars, the study of 2,837 motorists found.

He posted another similar comment about 2 weeks ago saying BMW drivers are all ‘Jerks’, he drives a Saab

Don't know about BMW's really, but my personal beef seems to be with Passats, even-chance the tailgater or pushy *ock will be in one,

No offence to Passat driving members of course

I think it's people who think they have 'arrived' when they have got a BMW or Audi. I have both so not quite sure what that says!!!

HA! 2 in 2 days. First one, 2 young lads in a Ford KA waved at me as they screamed off from the lights, then today a Citroen Saxo with a twin letter box exhaust that was half the width of the rear bumper. You gotta love Doncaster!

For me its small transit vans who are the worst, usually builders vans, especially on my way to work at 6.45am when the roads are relatively quiet. I don't know if its because theyre in a rush to pick up workmates but I find they behave like maniacs, either tailgating in a 30 zone, undertaking etc and just dangerous driving. Although driving home from work today it was a plonker in an Audi RS4, overtaking and undertaking, knowing he'd got the power to do it. The few times when I have come across idiot BMW drivers its in X5s.

I find drivers seem to tailgate me far more in the Z3 than the Z4. As its debadged except for an AC Schnitzer badge on the rear I find someone will come right up my chuff for 30 secs or so then strangely drop back and keep a distance. I think they get close to see what the badge says :|

Tim.

In West London BMW drivers have always been complete and utter *~&*!&£ nothing has changed much.. All we can do is try and change it one zed at at time..

Working down south this week and took the zed for a change to give it a decent run as it's been parked up for a couple of weeks. It was amazing to notice the difference in attitudes, had a lot more cars tailgating me or worse accelerating in the middle lane as I was going past in the outside lane (still haven't worked out what that achieves!). Funny thing is I also noticed that most of the cars tailgating me were people carriers or entry level 'premium' brands (never realised how many 1 series there are out there!). I was hardly driving any slower than I do in my normal commuter so can only put it down to the fact that people in those particular cars felt they had a point to prove. So I let them prove they're prepared to drive further above the speed limit than I am!

I've got a Citroen zsara Picasso for work.

I can confirm they are s**t.

I''ve noticed that driving gets worse in ALL cars as you get towards Christmas. Think it's the holiday pressure of having to do more stuff without time off (presents, tree, etcetc) the fact that people are going to work in the dark and getting home in the dark, and this fact that some people drive more carefully, due to the conditions, and some people don't want to drive slower.
My nominations for biggest chunts on the road are Ford Fusion drivers. Them tall Fiesta things.
I doubt one has ever been over 45mph
