Beware 118118!

Not something I do, but a friend of mine has been complaining that he made a call a few days ago and was transferred to the number he wanted by 118118...he ended up paying £15 for an 8-minute call...seems they charge a premium rate for the entire call...now I know why I detest their ads so much. :evil:

And then I see Watchdog did a piece on them....including someone who connected to NHS Direct through 118118, got transferred to 999 and after being talked through a crisis by the operator ended up with a £55 bill for the call. Bloodsuckers.

Some services like 118226 only charge a small one-off connection fee - much more honest and honourable IMHO.

I never use anyone's call connection service as they all charge.

If I can, I will remember the number or right it down, otherwise I'll ask for an SMS.

Surely these guys have an ever decreasing market with the increased use of smart phones? I just bob onto the web if I need a number or something!

This has been the case for years, never let them connect you, just ask for the text
