You may or may not know, my Zed is in the shop at the moment, after some, anonimas A##ole, put a dent in it.

Any way the shop is right on my route home so I stop over for an update on the way home.

Zed was parked out on the road roof up passenger side window half open. Bird crap on the bumper. Job still to be started. Well I did say Sunday was fine.

I walked in and got the keys from the receptionist, grabbed a wipe out of the boot. Cleaned the bumper closed the window and handed the keys back. The car was locked so I'm guessing they didn't realise some berk had left the window open, until I told them.

Any way I saw little point in reiterating the obvious, before they get to work on my car, but will be saying something when there done.

Anyone else made the mistake of turning up halfway through a job to find standards of care where lower than hoped for. :thumbsdown:
 
Went to pick my van up after mot and service,collected my keys and walked out to where it was parked, in their car park but totally open to the public and it wasn't even locked,with my lively hood (tools,spray guns etc) sitting inside.Wankers!

Hey if it was the wife and kids they'ed left out in the street that's one thing. But this was my ZED.

I guess this reiterates the importance of finding a place you can fully trust (which I appreciate will take time).

I've used this shop before, when someone did a similar trick on my Primera. Though that was 15 years ago it's still run by the same guy. Made a great job back then. I'm expecting the same results this time.

It's just turning up unexpectedly. I suspect most shops treat your P&J like this when they're buzy and short on space. It's just better not to think about it too much.

Luckily my local BMW dealer is top notch in this respect so have tended to stick with them, worst was Peugeot who the local dealer loved curbing your alloys on more than one occasion :o

My thoughts exactly. I would be absolutely fuming if this happened. Some cocky mechanic thought he'd have a free joy ride, ragging a customer's car. Disgraceful imo. I hope the garage are held fully responsible.

The tracker company might well have records of what the car was doing just before it crashed. Not black box stuff, just loaction and a good idea of velocity.
 
My dealer knows better nowadays after I got them to change the roof of my previous Z after they put it through their car wash despite instructions to not touch the car with anything ...

I'm really lucky that my local Indy treats my car really well. He even makes a great job of washing it.

His only crime is to raise the seat height in the 5 series, surely as low as possible is the only sensible option
 
Yes I try not to go to see a car whilst it's being 'worked' on, it could be upsetting howlers the treatment of your car is appalling. You could of ended up with a soaked interior!

I no longer use the nearest bmw garage after a load of c@ck ups and the fact I was walking into the car park and almost run over by my own car speeding towards the exit and upon it being returned to me the car was doing 7.8mpg, had used nearly half a tank of fuel and supposedly had only been doing 'normal' speeds for 3 miles when infact it had been taken a drive of more than three times that when I asked where they took it too. The assured me I was wrong in the distance, however I lived 14 miles from the garage and the had taken it to a place 3 miles from my home and proved it with google maps.

Needless to say I now always take photos of the cars petrol gauge, mpg, mileage and bodywork prior to leaving it with anybody apart from the guys who do the mot as I know them and they always take it straight in and call me so I can be there when it comes out.
 
My Ford Mustang needed a cam shaft replaced under warranty at a Ford Dealer in Calgary.
When I went to pick it up at closing, discovered the steering wheel was covered in grease.
Next day there was a puddle of anti-freeze under the car.
Checked under the hood to discover 3 of 4 cooling hose clamps were stripped and the overhead cam belt cover offset because one bolt was snapped and another was missing.
Complained to the Service Manager and was told the mechanics who had started the job were obliged to keep at it til the work was finished. That was their policy.
I took the car to another dealer.
That was my last Ford.
 
I had my bumper resprayed a while back, and when I arranged to pick it up was told it needed a 'quick clean'. which consisted of something in a squirty bottle and some paper towels. I told them not to bother! currently having some building work done on my house, and whilst the standard of workmanship is fine, the way they work, and respect they show towards things, is fairly poor. trouble is, if businesses worked with the care and ocd some of us have, they'd probably not be viable commercially.
 
The car i had before the Z a VW Passat was having some engine issues so took it to a garage in bristol who specialise in injectors. Was sat home that night eating my tea and got a phone call from someone i know asking what i was doing by them.. Turns out they decided to use my car to drive home for the night without my permission i just got a lift to my car and drove it home wasnt impressed!
