Better late than never...

Hi all,

I purchased my 2003 3.0SE in August last year. I have been lurking on and off the forum since then but never got round to posting up about my car! It was a bit of an impulse buy, out the back of fixing up a ride-on lawnmower (long story.... :D ) To cut a long story short I found my zed advertised on Auto Trader, it was pretty close to me and ticked all the boxes, the main one being low mileage - just 36000. It was a demo car for the first 6 months of it's life and had been owned since then by one female (I will be polite and class her as 'mature') driver. I think it had been used mainly for trips to visit her children and the golf course.... Spec was pretty good too:

S302A Alarm system
S345A Chrome Line Interieur
S350A BMW Composite wheel, star spoke 108
S380A Hardtop-preparation
S387A Wind deflector
S399A Softtop, electromech. all-autom.
S423A Floor mats, velours
S428A Warning triangle and first aid kit
S431A Interior mirror with automatic-dip
S441A Smoker package
S459A Seat adjuster, electric, with memory
S493A Storage compartment package
S494A Seat heating driver/passenger
S502A Headlight cleaning system
S508A Park Distance Control (PDC)
S521A Rain sensor
S522A Xenon Light
S534A Automatic air conditioning
S540A Cruise control
S609A Navigation system Professional
S677A HiFi System Professional DSP
S692A Preparation, BMW 6-CD changer I-bus
S704A M Sports suspension

For a number of reasons I haven't done too much too it so far. First job was a really decent clean, it's fair to say it was a very 'honest' car and certainly hadn't been 'tarted up' for the sale. Some would say it was bordering on neglected...An oil and filter change was done and then I hit my first problem, which is where I found this forum - the dreaded dodgy wipers! To be fair the seller did say that they were flaky at times and their local mechanic hadn't manage to track down the problem. Anyway, the cleaning fix did the trick and they've been fine since. Apart from that I cleaned out the softop drains but that was as far as I got as an elbow injury prevented me doing too much else :(

I've just had a new set of vreds on the rear - the fronts were new just before I bought the car and I can't justify swapping them over for new ones just yet. Really pleased with the improved ride from the rears though. Next week I'm getting the alloys done at Lepsons in Gillingham. I only have these dodgy pics the better half took on her camera phone when I first got it - I had been putting off taking better ones until 1) I got the scabby alloys done and 2) I can give it a proper polish after the elbow surgery....

Cheers,
Rich

Very nice and standard, I'm jealous of the wind deflector, very jealous.

I'd go for some black front grilles, 100%

LOL, will have to make sure it doesn't go missing on Saturday then

Looks nice and good spec, they swapped the 108's though for the lesser 107's though at some point.

Yeah I reckon the dealer did that before they sold it to her. When I phoned up about the advert, she said it had the composite alloys, didn't have the heart to explain they weren't........
