Best Z4M Airbox/Induction kits??

CSL box doesnt work with a MAF, you would need to run Alpha N software like Beedub. Gruppe M or AFE kit is by far the easier/cheaper option.

{"]LOL  BMW spent a long time perfecting that S54 setup, to squeeze the most from that 3.2. You think simply slapping a cone filter on there is going to gain you 5bhp + ??? :D You do realise those "Go faster" stipes don't actually make you go faster?

Who said anything about GAINING hp?? If you recall, you originally said there would be a SIGNIFICANT drop in hp running a CAI on our cars, which is absolute BS. What's 'significant' to you then? 15? 20? 30hp?
And then u said the only exceptions to the 'rule' were GruppeM and the CSL intake. HAHAHA are you for real? I guess there's one born every minute.

Instead of being a canary repeating a bunch of crap which you have no idea about, why not show ONE same-day dyno report with a GruppeM/aFe intake on/off to back up your claim? Because it doesn't exist, and any change in usable hp is nominal at best either way, and that includes yours. These are bought mainly for sound, and wait for it... one is the same as the other for power, and it's a NEGLIGIBLE difference at best.

You know what pal, you are an abrupt, aggressive :wkr: and I'm no longer going to waste my time replying. Its obvious you know s**t and just repeating stuff you've heard whilst hanging out on street corners or outside fast food joints (and now you've got me stooping to your level) The OP has the 'accurate' info he needs from calling experts so jobs a good 'un

Peace out

You'd get on well with our McDonalds crowd :P

It not just about de-restricting the air, its the quality of that air (ie heat) and the pressure as well I believe. In addition to the tuners over here there is a guy on this forum who has done a lot of testing (datalogging etc) with the standard setup of the Z4M (and Z3M) He has proved its not "just as simply as getting more air in/out" If that was the case we'd all just go around with a pipe sticking out the front with a stocking over the top :D

Exdos didn't "prove" anything, because he had a hissy-fit and refused to share vital information about the changes he made.

i'm interested in this subject because i want to make some mods, but the vast amount of conflicting information and in tyhe Exdos case missing information is very frustrating.

Don't know what to do for the best

Fella,

With respect you came across condescending in your opening remark, and the other lad is right, heat soak is only applicable in stop start driving where there is less air flow.

At the end of the day your Gruppe M is just a K&N is a carbon surround!

All IK's are for noise, let's be honest!

Sweetride, I do see what your saying but with all respect i think your agressive approach gets people's backs up.... I should know... You post like me.... If I could pass on some friendly advice it would be to tone it down alittle and you and your knowledge will be welcomed....

Although mark has spat the dummy I actually see why.... He feels your approach is rude basically.

Ess IMO are the kings at this stuff and if they tell me things about induction kits, which they have.... I will always take their advice.

Fair enough??

I have a CSl Style carbon fibre airbox on my Z4MR and its sounds amazing. Had the an alpha-N tune to get the best out of it.

However have had loads more mods, even had a Stage 3 race head installed ported with larger inlet and much wilder cams. I initially upgraded to Schrick Stage 1 CSL spec cams which I must sell at some stage, but went for cams that will take into consideration the larger inlets. I also have a M3 e92 as well with a full Akrapovic Evolution titanium Exhaust system, currently installing cams and GruppeM Airbox to that to get the induction noise, but have to say the Z still sounds intoxicating!

AWESOME car mate

which one? :)

nah...the engine bay on the z4m makes me want a carbon airbox :driving:

I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need

I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need

And I said I need dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need

And if I share with you my story would you share your dollar with me..

they're ££££ tho..

sorry i felt a bit of stupidity might lighten the mood... :)

just to add a more serious contention, i fitted an afe induction kit and it makes a decent noise.

i'm still the limiting factor in the performance of my vehicle...and no one else is allowed to drive it, so i reckon all arguments are academic.

is it just me....or is the tuning scene in the US bigger than here
obv im not exactly helping the uk out seeing as ive not changed my car at all
but the *ahem* american z4 forum seems awash with threads about ppl modding cars?
obv the us has more ppl etcetc, just an observation...
