Best Way to Remove Insects

Morning all,

Relatively self explanatory thread.

AM considering purchasing either AG Activie Insect Remover or Meguiars Gold Class Bug & Tar Remover, but thought I'd open my decision to the floor.

What sort of impact do these removers have on the wax of the car? Will it strip the insect and protection away?

Does anybody have any other techniques/ tips for safe remove of insects?

Thanks.

I initially thought you had the same experience as me when I read the thread title...last night going crazy trying to get a massive moth out of my bedroom. Obviously not.

Get a Meguiars lambswool wash mitt which has a mesh back and is very effective when shampooing the car to remove insects.

Fucking hate moths me, can't stand the things. If there's one near me I have to get rid. I've got one of them electric tennis rackets that zap insects when you hit them, pretty topical right now too, i can stand in me room and pretend i'm Andy Murray returning a massive 140 serve by twatting a moth into next year.

Scotch pad and press/rub really hard?

If its got wax on it then most bugs should just wash off. Otherwise its one of the tar removers or claybar. WD40 as mentioned above does work as well.

Supagard bird poo remover. Spray on, wipe off. Simples.

I've already got a Meguiars lambswool mitt, so I might give Supagard a go as well.

Haha, sorry Ruby, I haven't any decent advice for you. However, Ste's tennis match technique does sound like a rippin' good laugh!

How does the mesh back work exactly?

I've already got one of these, so you dont need to sell the product, i'm just curious as to the operation of it.

I've seen elsewhere people mentioning using quick detailer in the same way that Caol suggested using Supagard's "bird lime neutraliser" (love the wording).

Any experience of this? One aspect I am mindful off is stripping off the wax by leaving corrosive agents to work into the insects/ bird poop. Would a quick detailer prevent such stripping of the wax?

Ruby, Ste - have one of these in the bedroom and living room, seems to deter most insects & moths :)

Thanks this looks good and so does Ste's racket, will buy both I think.

Have one of Ste's rackets - found holding the power button in was a pain.... and don't let your dog lick it (makes them sneeze)
We also have a couple of these, great fun

I would soak for a few mins with bug spay, AG is good or such like. Then wash with hot soapy water.

Use light pressure and would certainly not recommend in my experience using the reverse side of lambs wool mitt or similar surface as this will scratch the paint work.

If they don't come off with a light scrub leave it and use a clay bar which will help to remove any really imbedded bugs.

Failing that I'd just leave it and over the course of a few washes and some rain they will disappear.
