Best tyres you've used?

I'm going to need some new tyres fairly shortly. Currently got Michelin Pilot Supersports all round and just looking to see if there are any better/comparable tyres worth trying. My car is used for a mixture of pottering around, spirited drives and about 5-6 trackdays a year.

You have the best tyres in michelin pss. I tried contis & a few others, don`t waste your money.Had them on my last few cars & can`t wait to get them on the 35is when i strip the rft`s.

+1 on the PSS for all-round use but, if you have a spare set of wheels, you could always think about some PS CUPs for the trackdays

Conti M3s on mine right now and never had any others yet, but I'll be trying out PSS when they need replaced based on advice found on here.

Avoid Pirelli P-Zeros at all cost.

They're just too soft. I've tried them at one point or another on pretty much every car I've had. They perform brilliantly but wear so quickly. Managed only 8,500 miles when I had them on an Audi S8 (quattro though), and 7,000 when on the rear of a Merc C55 AMG.

My vote would also be for the Michelin PSS which I've also used before

x2, I'll be getting PSS' on before xmas. Conti M3s at the moment but from the wealth of discussion on here I'd say the PSS' are almost unanimously favoured.

Had contis on my M3 and Z4M and I liked them mainly because there isn't that much grip with them and it adds to the drive for me and you can feel the rear end move around a lot but agree with others that Michelins are miles better in terms of grip and reviews.

Had toyos on my 200sx/cerbera and currently on the TTS and I am happy with them too.

Went to Michelin Pilot Super Sports about 2 year ago after trying a few other brands. Clearly the best tire for the ///M...

You cant deny pilot sports are a great tyre....

I really like the Hankook V12 ventus and Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta.... Both awesome...

one thing I notice about PSSs is they are poorly rated for rolling resistance and road noise on black circle web site.

Do you prefer them over the PSS'?

I had Vreds on the M roady and i prefer them to the PSS..... Less noisy and just as much grip, wet grip seems better.

I had the V12 Ventus on the M5,superb tyre in all conditions...

For me its hard to seperate the 3..... But price is better on the Kooks and Vreds... I disliked the noise of the PSS and Conti's for that matter..

Can't believe you've gone through them already!

Whatever you do, get rid of your balloon sidewalls :P :P I would recommend 265\35 and 235\40

Personally I love my Goodyear Asymmetric 2's. No idea how they'd perform on track and I'm sure they won't grip quite as well as PSS, but sometimes too much grip can make the car less playful. However for a tyre that's fantastic in the summer, it's also very very good in wet and cold conditions, even below 0 degrees.

I went from Conti M3's all round to Michelin PSS.

The Conti M3 was a good tyre and suited the car pretty well, although it was old technology.

The PSS is simply brilliant and suits the car really well. If I were to find a criticism, it is a little bit noisy at motorway speeds.

Mine has Goodyear Eagle F1 Asy2s. No complaints. However, I acknowledge that the PSSs will be a better tyre.

Haha I know! Lasted less than a year !!

They still have some meat left on them. They have just been through too many heat cycles and not up to anymore trackdays. I was getting a lot more tyre squeal this time whereas I've never had any before. Also felt like I was driving on ice at times so it's time for some new tyres for next years track season.

This is how the fronts looked after the day;

I agree with you with regards to the sidewalls though. It's just trying to find good tyres in those sizes. Will have a wee look.

Haven't tried the PSS, was just providing an alternative as everyone was suggesting the PSS (which is amazing)
PSS is the best normal road tyre, no doubt about that.
It's the closest you'll get to a semi while still maintaining comfort/noise & grip in the rain.
That being said, the Neovas are a wonderful alternative & is probably the semi with the best grip in the rain.
Cups are too extreme, useless on cold or damp roads.

Here in SA, the Neovas cost a fraction of the PSS so I went with those instead.
Def much better than the PS2s.
