Best time to buy?

The MR I just test drove only had 14000 miles on the clock (shame it wasnt an MC) so they certainly do exist, it's just a case of finding one... Time scale doesn't bother me at this point and I am planning to keep the car for as long as possible so depending on the premium (not Hexagon prices however) yes if the car is right then that's what it shall be. I'm no longer bothered about interior as I would eventually like to do a custom retrim, I was disappointed with the champagne in person and felt the black looked better.

It just takes time and you have to be prepared to see as many cars as possible (although you only want black so that narrows your search) It took me around six months of serious looking with cash in my pocket, going out most weekends looking at cars. I was actually internet searching for nine months - I was quite picky like you. My car although an MR also had 14,000 when I bought it, ten months ago so low mileage cars are out there, you may also fall into problems re mileage as I have found and seen that generally MC have more miles on them as people use them all year round where as MR are seen and used as a summer car (mine isn't though!) Not wanting to stick it to you like the other poster, you are looking for a possible unicorn so may take a bit longer.

My biggest worry when I bought IMmie was lack of use, and I've made a few warranty claims although so far nothing mechanical. *touches wood*

I'm close to doubling the mileage now, and still under 12k :D

What do I win??

Nothing. Its not a 2008 model and lower spec than wanted going from the posts.

Christ, I didn't realise that the car has to be a 2008

Knock that potential 11-12 cars down to 4-6.

I've also noticed that "Nina" didn't like that the Hexagon car has had 4 previous owners. Most of these cars now will have 3+ previous owners. A lot of people own these for 9-12 months before moving on (as many petrol heads do).

So a 2008, black ///MC with piano black trim, less than 25k miles and less than 3(??) previous owners.

I've a feeling that if Ninavarna may become familiar with the word compromise if serious about getting into an ///MC.

Yes, I have written similar. These cars for owners are either quick spinners for the scratch that needs itching or keepers for many years. At five years or so old most will have a minimum of two owners. I feel she is not looking for a unicorn but unicorn's spunk.

It's as close you will get to it, what difference is a 2008?!?!?

Just search back through the posts, something to do with not having an older car than she currently has.

Here's a chart of UK Z4's.

588 ///M coupés.

226 Black (120 sapphire, 54 Ruby (red metallic flecks) and 52 Carbon (blue metallic flecks)).
588 MCs, 278 of which are black (of one shade or another)....

I thought you said they were rare...

Popey, I thank you for sharing this link! The car looks beautiful, I am going to contact the seller.

Regarding any negative posts on here I'm a little perturbed by the criticism... What is wrong with having tight spec? This is buyer preference and whilst maybe rare, is not impossible. If I wanted to own any black MC, I would have bought that afwul 'shed' I test drove in Sytner Solihull. I understand this doesn't find you a car in a hurry but that doesn't concern me. Some of my choices were not static but desired, I decided to widen my net to include 2007, after looking into models that have come up for sale, a 2008 doesn't necessary buy you a low mileage vehicle but it would be of course nice to own one on a later plate. I currently have a beautiful car and wish I could afford to keep both but sadly that is not the case so any car that I moved onto had to be special. The Z4 however is of course getting older and as I'm not a fan of the E89, I felt I needed to start moving quickly in order to obtain an E86 with the desired low mileage.

I don't think anybody means to criticise. I went through a few phases during my search of questioning whether the car I wanted was in existence. I guess your confidence and "stubborness" (in the nicest possible way :) ) in your posts as to what you want makes people want to advise that you may face some difficulties.

Then the Black ///MC popey posted arrived, lol.

I think it's sensible to include 2007 cars. As for owners I really wouldn't worry too much. Service history and the car's condition will say alot more about the car's care. I'm the 5th owner of my car and it's a 2007 which had 24,500 when I purchased it back in July.

On a completely unrelated subject I really like your artwork, fancy re-creating a Z4M?

5 owners in 24k miles! Is it cursed or something :poke:

No, BMW owned it for the first 3 months of it's life, then their sales manager owned if for as further 9 months. Sold it to owner number 3 who owned for 3 years. Sold to IKZ4 (Ian) who owned for 18 months and sold to me in July.

When you look at it that way it's not particularly unreasonable. Has an impeccable service history and has been well maintained. No issues with being number 5.

I guess you have a low owner number? Hardly surprising, who would want to own a brown car  :poke: (I actually love sepang bronze and wish I had one :( )

Me and Milu and I think he just used to reverse it out the garage to stare at it.

Brown! How dare you. :D

Ah, you got an absolute beaut there. Only covered 18k when you got it?

12k. Didn't turn a wheel till March 2009 as it was in the showroom unsold (probably cos it's brown) Maybe Nina could just look for 2009 cars! :poke:

I think mine had about 3 or 4 previous owners, however 1 change was from a business (law firm) into the personal name. I have the a copy of the old log book to show this which is a nice to back up should I ever sell her.
