Best snow tyres for Z4 (UK)

Hi Guys,

I have yet to decide on which ones are the best for UK weather (Nov-Jan/Feb). To be honest i have no idea at all.

I looked on the Camskill website, but got a tad confused tbh..I have a set of 104's that need prepping for the winter. .

Yup, thats how bad my Z4 was in the winter last year...

Vredestein or Avon.

I went with Avon in the end as the Vredestein were sold out last year. I managed to get up straight sheet ice hills in the X5 without issues whilst it used to be useless in the snow / ice.

Both Michelin Pilot Alpin and Nokian WR G2 are quite well rated in the tyre tests.

I might be trying to get some Goodyear UltraGrip Performance 2 (non-RFT)
...when I get round to getting some winter rims

Camskill - and had them fitted by the BMW dealer for £75 for 4.

I have Vredestein Snowtracs on the e36 through winter and I rate them highly.

The only limiting factor in the snow this winter was ground clearance, tyres coped easily with loose snow, packed snow and even icy slush. They're damn good on slimy leaf grease and in the rain too.

I've always used camskill as they seem to be by far the best on price and have always delivered when promised. If you're having trouble finding a fitter just make a spoof purchase on blackcircles then back out after browsing their list of nearest fitters.

For 104's you'll be needing 225/50/16 then, exact same as what I'm looking for...

Camskill - only listing the Toyo S952's @ £97/tyre but not in stock, no other options in this size.

Mytyres - several in this size ranging from no-namers at <£70/tyre up to Bridgestones @ £137/tyre.
They have the Nokian's mentioned above at around £80/tyre which is winning for me at the moment.
Or, the Conti WinterContact's at around £96/tyre get good ratings in tyretest too.

Blackcircles - don't seem to have any winter tyres listed.

Not sure where else to try?

I've got a mobile tyre fitter I trust, but also can use my father-in-law, so fitting isn't something I can advise on...

This is one thing i definitely going to get this year! Drove me mad trying to get up hills in the 330, especially while everyone in FWD cars were making a lot more progress than me

Should just get a cheap set of CSL's and stick them on, or 108's as they seem ideal as a winter set :poke:
