Best polish for Silver grey Z4M

Hi all

Just picked up a silver grey Z4M and would welcome advice on what polishes / waxes best suit this colour? The paintwork is in really good condition and I'd like to keep it that way. I apply by hand as haven't gotbthe courage to go down the DA route.

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't be scared of a DA...you have to be willfully negligent or stupid to do harm with a DA (a Rotary is a different matter).

Colour (IMHO) shouldn't really be a determinant of what polishes etc to use...unless you're planning on 'cheating'

I have the same colour Z4M as you BTW!

Have you managed to resist the Harley Wax frenzy? From the pics we've been treated to it seems to do a great job on silver grey.

Thanks both. Looked at the other threads about Harley. Looks tempting. What would be a good prep before applying this (DA excepted at the moment, though it's only a matter of time I think).

Clay bar to get it smooth a good polish, I use autoglym then finish off with a good wax, that will give you a good deep shine

Cheers. Would that be AG SRP?

Clay, AG SRP (by hand) then sealant here. You've already done the hard bit which is buying the right colour - SG is very forgiving and easy to get good results with!

There are fillers in the SRP, which is cheating a bit and won’t last as long as a proper polish, so a DA might still be a good investment.

AG SRP is what I use have done for years top off with AG EGP for even more protection then I use Victoria Concours Wax as my LSP for a nice wet look I also clay the car first get that lovely slick feel to the paint.

Heres some results of the nice reflections you can get on a Silver car all done by hand.

Wow! Lovely results!

I use poor boys diamond white on mine first, then most recently collinite 47-something wax, both working out nicely.

Totally off subject but I've seen it a number of times on here: what is flimper (or non-flimper) all about?

I use Poorboys Black Hole. Great results and smells like bubblegum. A couple of layers then finish with a couple of a good wax.

If you like the PBbhg next time you run out try this stuff https://www.amazon.co.uk/50-Cal-Cover-Up-Filler-Glaze/dp/B00W5Q8HJS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523909570&sr=8-1&keywords=50+cal+glaze

Sounds interesting. Always up for someones recommendation but it may be a few months yet before I need to buy some.

So got sucked in by the Harly Wax reviews and used yesterday after pressure wash rinse, 2 bucket wash, clay mitt and then wax. Seriously impressed with the ease of application on and off and would love to post pics but within 5 mins of finishing and standing back admiring, it lumped it down so heavily I had to take shelter. No doubt it beaded well, but this morning just Sahara dust splashes on it. In the few minutes I had to take it in it had a much deeper shine than any wax I've used before. Can't emphatically recommend yet but early signs are promising

On my silver grey m coupe I use AG UHD Wax and I like the results. Keep
An eye on eBay or amazon flash deals I got mine for £24 great stuff. It’s £54.99 on the Autoglym website!

There is a Forum member called "flimper". He has a very nice Interlagos Blue Z4MC, which he has owned for many years. His Zed does not have sat nav. (However, somewhat unusually, it does have extended leather. I don't know if it has heated seats.)

Many years ago (before I joined 4 years' ago) another Forum member - PVR - coined the phrase "flimper spec" to denote a low spec Zed. How fair that was has been the subject of ongoing discussion and banter. Certainly PVR doesn't lose too much sleep on whether it was fair!

At the end of the day flimper is the only Forum member to become a recognised adjective in the Zed world!
