I have got a trackday tomorrow and my Go Pro HD3 arrived today. Where ius the best place to mount it in the interior? Is there anywhere that gets a good view of the front and the driver?

Careful where you put it on the hoops as the roof liner drags over them and you run the risk of a tear if you put the mount on the top. :!:

I put mine on the instrument binnacle. Others have mounted them on the bumper, which is probably what I'll do next for Silverstone.

EDIT - Nice job Ranski

I have just used one of the sticky pads and mounted it between the hoops so it can be used with the roof closed. Decent view that I'm happy with, it's just a but shaky though. Is there anyway to minimise this?

In my opinion i would mount the camera upside down on the screen. The higher up the screen the better in my opinion.

If you can use it without using the waterproof case then the audio will be better.

So much of this is dependant of the track day organiser. Some don't like suction mounts and make no exception.

I will upload some pics as soon as they are on Flicker.

Be warned.... Make sure it's on properly and on a clean surface , I had a brand new unit lost on my first drive!!!! I was gutted!!!! Lmao !!!

I mounted mine on the side skirt :-(

I tried a few places and have settled on using one of the curved sticky mounts in the centre of the front bumper. I got terrible wind noise mounting it in most places and found the bumper location I get a lot of induction roar instead. However the most interesting pictures come from being suction mounted behind the rear wheel looking forward in my opinion.

In an ideal world I'd have two or three mounted in a few places and an audio recorder getting some exhaust noise too. Short clip here shows a few mounting options I tried on different runs:

My mate had a go-pro style camera with him at Cadwell earlier in the week... mounted it on the button thing that pushes in, just above the luggage area between the seat's, cracking view, terrible wind noise though...

i have tried a few positions, but the one inside the cabin and behind the windshield often provides the best noise and most realistic view.

I mounted it in between the roll hoops, on the plastic above the cubby hole with cd changer etc in it. Footage came out really well. Pretty dark inside but a good view out nada decent view of the driver. Just need to work on the sound for the next trackday. Videos are uploading to YouTube, il post them when done. There's some great footage 8)

See this thread (http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=53311) for some video footage of where I mounted the camera. I think it turned out pretty well. Need to try and get an external mic sorted out though.
