Best Performance Mods to a 3.0L???

There are many many 'mods' that members on here carry out but very few related to 'performance' without incurring disproportionate cost. If you have the 3.0i M54 engine then in standard form you have 231bhp, the 3.0si N52 puts out 265bhp. An induction kit and exhaust upgrade are added by some to squeeze a little more out with a better noise but beyond this your options are limited. Re maps are generally under whelming on these engines and supercharging whilst very effective is mega bucks.

Start with a stubby and see how you get on with the car first!

Welcome by the way.

As above, upgrading the engine is not that cost effective. I would go for (and I'm being very hypocritical here, but my Z4C is a DD): Decent geometry setup, better tyres, better suspension, driver training, unless you are just interested in going fast in a straight line.

Performance mods you might consider:

1) Limited Slip Diff (perhaps with a higher ratio than standard OEM diff?)
2) Lighter wheels
3) Bigger discs / calipers on the front (easy mod by using parts from a 330i)

Probably not the answer you were looking for, but how about a performance driving course? That way you can exploit more of what you've currently got and the improvement is instantly transferable to any other car you drive too....
