Looks like my tuning options are pretty limited without going all out. Well at least as far as gains per £ are concerned.

Maybe keep it simple and have the car mapped for response, replace or powder coat wheels and maybe fit a set of nice sporty bucket seats.

If I replace the wheels I think I'll stick a set of nice 19"'s with some wider rubber. My current preference is 8.5 fronts and 9.5 rears with 235x35's and 265x30's

I used Yoko's on my 3.0 z4 previously and liked them anyone tried them on an M ?? I think i had their AVS tyres last time.

I quite like the look of the wheels below if I can't get a set of genuine CSL's for the right price.

Anyone got suggestions on seats ?? I guess whatever I use will need some donor runners or fitting in solid.

I've read in the past that people have retro fitted electric seats so I guess a set of damaged manual seats for the runners should work OK the other way.

I had a mate who used to track his car a lot. Reckoned doing just that gave him a tenth a lap... that's when you know you've got the racing bug bad....

Still, I guess it's better than doing it whilst you're doing laps :lol:
 
I know you can get lovely lightweight carbon fibre bonnets for various 3 series and 5 series. Does anyone do 'em for zeds? That would save a few kilos....

I slapped in an Alpine D511 head unit with nav etc - sounds excellent, although a few minor frustrations with the phone and nav functions (admittedly I've not got round to updating the software since purchase over 18 months ago) but overall pretty chuffed with it. Details here:

ok if it was me and i had 5k to spend id...

source a second hand set of brakes (ap/stoptech) they do come up or go for a new k-sport kit, not the same pedigree but massively cheaper and just as good??

id do CSL cams and AFE intake

Ess tune with sport button memory and most agressive vanos timings

sell your stock wheels and drop to a lighter setup, with whaty the stockers make you wouldnbt have to put much to them to get a nice light set of wheels!!

Eventually do suspension overhaul and you'll have a really capable car....

or scrap all the above and go for a stage 1 supercharger... it will cost around 6k all in... the only problem is other parts need to be modded to really enjoy it as the car cant quite cope with 445hp in bone stock form, it does well however and is defo the best balanced kit..... your wife will be non the wiser, the car is completely tractable in stage 1.

the 1.5 2 and 2.5 staged kits are were the real expense gets involved as the car needs serious stripping down to fit things.. also i think i could drive the car faster in stage 1 form.... now in 2.5 guise its not road friendly anymore. Stage 1 meant you could use more of the power more of the time....

what is the overall objective? To have a car that is aesthetically pleasing or to serve a purpose on the track?
If its the former, then wheels, tyres, exhaust, suspension etc, are down to personal choice.
If its the latter, have you considered a driving tution session at a track?

Lowering Springs - £300

There's a few ideas to spend a few thousand. If you want ideas for spending a lot of money on a car, speak to Playalistic (Ben). He is the master!
