Best oil

Kind of post that will give you a dozen choices :P
Millers each & every time for me http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Millers-Oils-XF-Longlife-5W30-VW-504-00-507-00-Approved-Engine-Oil-5-Litre-/311457121280?epid=647268633&hash=item48844a8400:g:9G8AAOSw37tWDjkH
& change every year or every 7k whichever comes round first

Typically use Millers or Castrol, but picked up some Gulf oil for dirt cheap this time, its BMW LL-04 approved and it'll be changed again next year so no worries in my mind.

Like Mr Wilks said... it's like asking what's the best colour Zed! (Is there a real answer?)

I use Mobil1 0w40

BMW recommend Castrol Edge but as said any number of oils meet the spec

In the interest of openness though this was nothing to do with it being better, and purely due to BMW and Castrol having a deal where Castrol were the factory fill. Since then BMW use Shell as factory oil, so shockingly Shell Helix is the recommended oil on new cars

Just spoke with the technical department at PETRONAS (who I deal with in work) and going by the BMW specification they recommend Syntium Racer 10W-60.

Would like to know the reason why, I think BMW only list 0W30, 5W30 and 5W40 with 5W30 being the default. For non M anyway.

10W60 is an M only Oil buddy, I wouldn't be putting that in a non M Car :D

I use Castrol Edge fully synthetic 5W-30

Opie oil's ebay account was the cheapest deal I found last time around. Buy 2, extra 5% off and a bit left over for top ups.

Well spotted those men ... just asked them again and think he did look at the M spec.

Now says Syntium 3000AV - has BMW Longlife 04 approval.

Tell you what, think I'll put some old chip fat in mine than I can get a 3.0 quicker! :D
