Hi All,

Got 235/35 19s front and 265/30 19s rear.

Got to replace as 1 barely legal, 2 close to the limit and mixed brands on the rear axle. :(

Can't seem to see which are the best, any advice gratefully received........

Falken's generally regarded as good product at good price , from there its how much do you want to pay ? usual michelin, conti etc are excellent but pricey especially on 19's .
I have Vredesteins (18inch) which are in the middle pricewise but really impressed with wet/dry grip & roadnoise & feel.
get the best you can afford as crap tyres just spoil a car & are dangerous at times

I've just put Hankook V12s on the back. So far so good!

I put these on all four wheels of the S-Max earlier in the year and no issues. They're directional rather than asymmetric so you have the potential to swap them on the rims and change sides as the Zed does like to eat the inner edges on the rears

VRedsteins are also forum favourites as are Falken 452's and the new 453.

Totally agree mr wills , I have falkens but wasn't to impressed with the wear I hear good things about the veds though

I have these too, can't fault them. They will be replaced with the same.

I've got vreds on the fronts and they seem reasonably priced. They do seem to grip well and even though they are close to the limit they are performing in all the standing water we've got....... No sign of a twitch (yet) and I've been through some sh**te the last few weeks.

The Goodyear Eagle F1s looked quite good and I had Hankooks put on a Ford Cougar a few years back which transformed the car.

I'll have a closer look at the vreds though. I've asked my local guy to get some prices and then I'll compare again and see if I can haggle him down a bit. He does 4 wheel alignment etc as well so might see if he can chuck that in. He even knew about correctly weighting the car first.

Thoroughly recommend the Goodyears F1 A2's very sticky but wear rate is subsequently higher

This is a good site...

Here's mine:

They're very well priced too!

You're going to get so many suggestions on this question...I'm running Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's and absolutely love them. Low noise for such a wide footprint and fabulous performance that is second to none. I also run the same size as you're looking for.

Since my car isn't driven hard and used mostly on motorways, fronts are looking to last 70,000 miles, rears should do 35-40,000 miles.

Thanks Guys.
I looked at Tyre Reviews but never know what to pick. :?
I'd never go cheap but they are all weather, every day tyres as I use the car in all 4 seasons.
Woody, are the Avons good in the winter as the vreds seem to be coping well? I have a sneaky feeling I see that you garage the MC?

Greg I use mine through all 4 seasons too. Yes, it is garaged but only to keep it safely tucked away and protected from the elements :) I don't have the luxury of having 3 cars in our household! Wife has her new shape Punto which we use for the more mundane stuff and I use the Z for work and fun, but only really do about 7-8k miles a year.

I know from being on here, everyone talks about winter wheels/tyres etc but I've never had any issues (yet!) but then I'm in Bristol, not Cumbria!

The Avons are great in my opinion, obviously they came with the car when I got it so nothing to compare with. But the ride etc is amazing compared to previous Z (ok that was on RFT's!)

From being on here the Vred's sound good. I had Falken 452's on my Octy vRS, they were ok but not great, quite noisy and not so good in the wet. But as has been said, everyone has different opinions which makes it a hard decision, especially when looking at the tyre review site!

If I were you, look at the Falkens, Vred's, Avons and then compare prices. If you want to spend more, then yes look at the more premium brands...

If you want the best then it seems to be Michelin Super Sports.
Good grip in the dry and the wet, good wear rates for such a grippy tyre. Can handle a track day or two.

I have them on the front of mine, with Sport 2s on the rear until I manage to wear them out :driving:

I changed from the standard M wheels with worn out Conti's to CSLs with the above tyres, there's certainly more grip, a lot less under steer and they handle standing water very well.

There's a reason they're one of two default tyres for fast/super cars

Best for grip? Cost? Tyre wear?

Michelin Pilot Super Sports are great tyres but cost the earth.

Good compromises, and forum favourites are:

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta
Falken 452
