Best Model.

My first Zed was a 2006 2.5 Si MSport, the engine is a peach, two things that I didn't like was an exhaust resonance at 3000 rpm equating to 75 mph, so you either had to do 70 or 80 and tramlining on the motorway. The M sport seats were really comfortable and supportive.

I would have to say that now I have the 3.0l performance isn't dramatically better, but the engine is more drivable and relaxed, it will pull well in 5th @ 30 or 6th @ 40. If you want a cruiser then I would say the 3.0 Si on 17" 225's is going to be a better ride than the M Sport on the 18" staggered set up (225 front and 255 rear) wether it's an auto is up to you

Good luck

Hi John,
Go for a 3ltr auto, Ragtop.(You can see a lot more with the roof down)i have ,toured france/Spain this year 3100mls average 30mpg excellent turn of speed ,sports mode,or nock it over to man, great for the twisty mountain roads. :driving:
You wont regret it
:D :D :D

Thankyou everyone, it looks like a 3.0Si ragtop is the one to go for as i suspected although i dont think i would turn down a very good low mileage 2.5 for the right money,im sure the 2.0 is a fine car andysat but because auto is a must ( old knees ) i think the bigger engine would be better suited , i think the coupe looks fantastic, reminds me of my old GT6 but nice to have the option of open top motoring.
So if anyone spots a very nice 3.0 Si rag top on 17in wheels for sale or possibly a 2.5 for around the £10k mark drop me a line, i would be very grateful, distance not to much of a problem.
Many thanks to you all for your help and advise.
Happy motoring,, John.

You've made the right decision, john56. I've had a 3 litre roadster for a few months and absolutely love it. When the sun is shining, being able to take the roof down to enjoy it is unbeatable. Good luck in your search!

You could buy this ///M for about 10K:

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_popup.jsp?photosOn=1&dealerid=12545&did=12545&pageid=4&modelexact=1&make=BMW&model=ANY&min_pr=0&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&keywords=&max_records=50&photo=0&sort=3&dealersearch_full=SEARCH&start=1&distance=0&adcategory=cars&channel=DEALERPAGE&id=201151436856351

Although, given that they claim an aerokit when there is none, and they couldn't be bothered to reattach the front plate properly before taking the photos, I would be very cautious!

Ummm, I could be wrong, but IIRC Keighley Sports and Performace is one place you really DON'T want to use :!:

I am sure there was a thread on here recently talking about this lot being very, very dodgy ?

Of course if I am wrong then full apology offered

Cheap enough but John has stated he needs an auto..

John - glad you came to a decision. Now the fun of finding one to meet your exact desired spec. Good time to buy as they should be cheap and you can pick from the bunch.

I'm just down the road so if you want to drive a 3.0 auto, justlet me know.

Avoid these people... I was tempted by a 'bargain' Z4C they had a little while back. After numerous calls trying to work out if it was a genuine car. I decided to Google them. It seems that almost every owners club\forum has horror stories about them.

There is always something amiss with a car from Kieghley.
Annoyingly they refuse to tell you what it is.

Caveat emptor.
