Best LED sidelight bulbs canbus error free??

Fed up of buying bulbs that look great, but start flickering after a few weeks!

What sort do people use that actually last on here?

I’ve bought cheap sets, upto about £7 a pair and still only last a few months at most?! The best pair I had, had a sealed “dome” end section with an internal LED where 1 died after about 4 months and the other lasted a year, but I replaced these just before this years Zedfest, but the replacements only last about 3 weeks before flickering. I then replaced them at the weekend for another set of “dome” LEDs I found on ebay.... but they throw up dash light (despite saying canbus error free!!!)

So... anybody have any links for what LED bulbs they use and actually last without flickering? Canbus error free and if possible, 6k colour to match HIDs??

Thanks

They work ok with dipped beams on, but light up indicators when just sidelights are on :(

Got some when on offer at ECP. Don't do much driving with lights on though so don't know about longevity. Biggest issue is replacing then as it's quite fiddly though.

Mine ended up being quite pricy but are excellent.

They are the Philips (something like this) https://www.powerbulbs.com/product/...tHA8pED9ZaY2pp6IVlItHPkeh9tyPRT0aAluFEALw_wcB and are lasting perfectly (bought them roughly the same time as you did your HID upgrade if i remember!).

They do throw up a dash error so i had to buy some resistors to put in parallel. Again i bought Philips https://www.powerbulbs.com/product/canbus-control-unit-warning-canceller-for-led-lamps but am sure this is an area that eBay could offer some very cheap solutions.

When you’ve done them as much as me it’s not too bad, I replaced both bulbs in about 10-15 mins including moving the car and taking photos. The 1st time I admit it took me ages lol

That looks like a decent set up, although £36 all in is a LOT for 2 bulbs lol, although the amount of cheap bulbs I’ve had is probably similar lol!

I’m happy to pay upto about £15-20 as long as I know they will last and have the canbus error free inbuilt resistor, hopefully somebody else has found something!

Will keep this in mind though, thanks :)

Try Halfords, at least you can return them. Why didn't I code your checks out? Then you could just use some Osram/philips LEDs.

I think you offered but I declined as I thought I would be ok (none of my LEDs have caused this until now) my fault :headbang:

Canbus is just a resistor to mimic the load, 4W it a lot to dissipate on a small package like W5W so the cheap components tend to not last long. I think Halfords are your best bet.

Just got home and the sidelights stayed on for a few mins after I got out the car? Is this something to do with the error bulbs? Never had it before :o

Mine do it too, they go off after a couple of mins but will come on very dim if you lock/unlock.

My No plate (cheapo) one's do that too. For the AE's I butchered some 200 lumen Halfords 501's, reasoning that A, I had them already and B, if they give a 5yr warranty, they must have a low failure rate. Been in a few months now and all fine, although I did receive these this morning;

Supposedly CANBUS compatible, and 200 lumens..

Had the same problem with buying cheap leds on Ebay from China - do what the rest of us have done and nip down to your local Halfords and get a pair of error free LEDs for £15.00 which includes a 5 year warranty. They aren't fiddly to fit.

Only £7.50 if you get a trade card

... or a 50% discount because the staff at Halfords remembered I was the ambulance first responder to arrive on scene at their store and tended to a very sick member of staff a few years back ... but I didn't want to mention it ...

You on Sonars Jamie? Have seen this before where they illuminate the indicators dimly..

Mike

Not using the sonars yet as they are still LHD until I split them and file the beam flat, then I will install sonars temporarily while I split my 2 sets and figure out what I’m doing with the angel/tracer set up.

My old LEDs didn’t stay on, but these do for a few mins (which is kinda cool tbh) but I assumed it was something to do with the error/no resistor thing

It's because there's still a small current which is enough to dimly light an LED but not enough to do so on a filament bulb.

Mine have no resistor and light up, if they have a resistor then they shouldn't.

Will filing the beam cut off work?
If the lamp is "European type" then there has to be a kick up, though I can't see a definition. The manual does say that the lamp may be E marked.

When you split them I wonder if you could just reverse the plate.

Do the projector assemblies not come out from the back line the oem ones?

Do you know what mike.... I havnt even looked at that   I best check when I get home!!!

And Steve, I’m not sure, they currently kick up to the right so I’m hoping I can potentially unbolt sometime and spin it 180 degress then bolt them back on.... or at the very least maybe file them down.....

Well that’s the plan anyway
