Best Ipod for Intravee

I'm just about to fit an Intravee II to my Z4 Coupe but have yet to get an Ipod for it. I'm going to be using this as a dedicated unit and wonder which is the best unit to get as I believe some of the newer units aren't charged in situ. Any advice appreciated

I've got a white Gen 4 in mine.

To be honest, if your leaving it in situ, I'd just get an older second hand one. I've got a gen4 in the car, and my main one is a gen 5 I use daily

So what are the problems with using a newer one. Looking at the price of older ones on Ebay, I don't know if I can be bothered with the saving.

The very latest ones (I think the new generation Touch, Nano and 3G iPhone) no longer charge via Firewire. The Alpine KCA-420i that is used with the Intravee only has the Firewire connections for charging, so it won't charge these later iPods.

However, there is a way round this with an adaptor like this: http://scosche.com/products/productID/1667. I think there are other adaptors like that, but that's the first one I found with a quick search.

Having fitted an Intravee over the weekend, I can't believe how easy it is. I had read about people spending 4-6 hours doing it. Mine was done in about 30 mins and looks fitted (well you can't see it).

I have an 07 Coupe, 10 speaker HiFi upgrade but no DSP. All I had to do was whip out the rear trim panel, connect up the Intravee and the KCA420i, run the Ipod cable through to the cabin (cubby hole between seats), put trim back and it was done.
