Best fuel consumption ????

The only time I see an improvement from an average of 30mpg is when my Fiancee borrows the car for a couple of days...

My wife wouldn't know how to drive my zed! :lol: I think we'll keep things that way....
 
Sat on 33.6 after about 600 miles. That's the commute over a couple of weeks (A roads, a few towns, a few spirited overtakes per day ) and then the weekend shenanigans.

Unbelievable MPG ... Much better than my mates 2.0 tsi TT DSG. Granted when I'm been a hoonigan with the trip reset it is nowhere near that :grin:

seem only to be getting 18 mpg at the moment hmmmm :?

on 3.0se mostly town drving though and hard to keep my foot off the load pedal as i only had it a week :)
 
The majority of you drive a 3.0 zed from what I see. A week after I started this tread I am averaging 36-37 mpg on my 2.0 zed. However, I drive her only during weekends and nights when there is not much traffic in the town :driving:
 
I get 32 on my 500 mile commute and about 18 round town. I dont know how you mange to get such high fig.s
380 per tank motorway.
200 per tank town.
3.0si auto.
I'm going to do an economy run tomorrow on the way home and see what I get. Well i'll try but its hard over such distance.
 
27 average on mine on the computer. The fuel light usually comes on at around 260-280 ish!

The best I have seen is 33 on a motorway cruise using cruise with no traffic.
 
I get 25-30 average with my 2.5i. Mostly short 1-junction motorway trips on my daily commute.

Maybe get 35 on a LONG motorway trip if I am lucky. That kind of figure seems insane to me.

Well first of all I am driving a 2.0i which is a lot more economical. Secondly, those figures are at times when there is very little traffic and I just go for a ride around the town without any rush. However, when I drive in rush hours with a lot of traffic (not very often as I have another car for the job) the consumption is 33-34 mpg. There are many factors that can affect the fuel consumption of a vehicle.
 
My current of 33.6 (still) is 3.0si. I do drive carefully over most of the commute but it does include me making her sing through the towns and some overtakes on 60mph roads on a daily basis so it is a fair average and not all doing 55mph constant, far from it. That's v power every time ...

Daily driver, 20 mile commute each way mixed roads

3.0 coupe. Leaden feet. 30mpg.

Factors that can affect fuel consumption:

1. Engine capacity
2. Fuel type (95 RON, 98 RON etc.) and quality
3. Rolling resistance of tyres and their condition
4. Where we drive (town,highway etc)
5. How we drive (Wide open throttle WOT, Partial throttle, shifting)
6. Auto box vs. Manual Box
7. Weather Conditions (where I drive we have ~ 20C during day and 15C during night) - colder weather is more likely to consume more
8. When the car was serviced for the last time to change filters etc. (mine had an inspection in September)
9. Weight of vehicle - passenger - luggage etc.
10. Cd (coefficient of drag) - that should vary between the roadster and the coupe

Averaging 25mpg (logged using Mileage app) at the moment but have mostly done short, reasonably vigorous trips in cold weather since purchase. The OBC levels out at about 35mpg for long motorway trips at legal speed and 32mpg at the speed most people cruise at.
 
Had the 3.0si Zed for about 4 weeks now and have not reset the trip computer - done about 600 miles and am returning just under 30MPG

This is a mix of A roads with a good clear run, entering city and stuck in fecking traffic.... stop/start... reverse situation on the run home (26 miles round trip) and a good motorway run once every two weeks to visit Dad. Yes, this is my daily driver. Oh, how happy to start a day like this. It is a freeeeeking joy.

Pretty happy really as my previous Pug GTi shed daily driver gave around 32-34MPG. My Previous MK2 Elise gave about 30 MPG.

I do like to blip it occasionally on downshifts (sounds sweet and makes the car smooth) also I have found myself looking at the speedo after an overtaking manouver and realised I am into licence loosing material. Only once, and now I am more aware of the potential of this beast. Restraint is required, honest :rofl:

Same on many fronts there ... Including the pug gti bit (206?) .. The zed returns better economy on long runs and similar elsewhere. The gti destroyed tyres and oil too for the fun if it!

Hi Tom, yep... agree with the tyres and oil consumption too. How are you enjoying your Z4 experience? For me...well, having had a few nice performance cars, this is the best - a great mix of raw and polish.

Well I'm not too far into making a car history, got a habit of keeping them and getting too attached! Lol! I've still got the gti which was an absolute legend for the 5 years of abuse it received and didn't really miss a beat, moving me around the country many a times and I found it such a sleeper catching all sorts of "better" cars out ;-)

The zed is amazing though, addicted to the soundtrack and everything else about it. I'm racking the miles up on it which I'm not too happy about. Nearest thing I can compare it to is my brother's 350z he recently sold, I drove that a lot and although the zed lacks the grunt of the v6 in the 350 , the zed just feels so agile and more poised ... I'm nearly three months in and still get excited every morning and evening before the commute!
